Went to my wife's family reunion, her mother's side. About 100 Polacks! Good time, too much good food. Just got home, and the Detroit Tiger's are in the 14th inning against Toronto. That's a long game!

Speaking of racing, Tony Stewart struck and killed a driver last night at a dirt track in upstate New York. They had got into a wreck and the young man got out of his car and came down the track to confront Tony. He tried to avoid him, but his rear tire hit the man. Please say a prayer for Tony and the Ward family. They are both hurting this morning.

Bad move by Ward getting out on the track, or possibly some pre-planned fan 'theater'? I don't follow racing, so I have no idea what was going on there. Sad ending though.

Polish food is good stuff.

We don't mention baseball with the Red Sox 15 games behind now. With all the constant roster changes it doesn't seem like we are watching the same team from one season to the next.

He might get hit with a civil suit by the guy's family, but I can't see him getting charged. The number 1 rule of racing safety is to not get out of the car until the track safety personnel get there unless it's on fire. I think Ward was just too mad for his own good. Tony has a temper, but he would never try to hit someone on the track on purpose. My cousin used to date his engine tuner and knows Tony pretty well. He is an old school, hard nosed racer, but as good a man as you will find in the garage. It's a sad day all around. This will make everyone everyone question him doing so many of the dirt track races. But the track owners love for him to race because it helps fill the seats. Sadly it is not that uncommon for racers to be killed at this kind of track. But unless a star driver is involved, it doesn't make Sport Center.

67 this morning more rain/rain showers and cool high only 70 if we are lucky. Have not seen the sun in 4 days looks like one more before it makes an appearance. Grass is starting to perk up again

Poured first cup of coffee. 60° with some clouds this morning. Heading to 76° with a couple of thunderstorms late morning and early afternoon. Haven't figured out what I am going to do today. But I am sure something will show up.
NASCAR had a great race yesterday. Shadowed by the tragic death of a young driver. Prayers for Kevin Warner's family and friends.

pleasant cool morning out, another nice day up into the eighties.
hoping to be able to move a doc appt later this week, though I have to see the guy...my urologist, and
the psa numbers are marching up, now at 3.6 could be just age, could be ?
if I can move that fun trip to next week, I can leave tomorrow with another load to NC. The truck bed is full of motor oil, aerosols, paints, a ton of stuff Bekins would not take. and the trailer is close to its limit, and boy is that truck happy with some weight on its hitch. Just seems to get in the groove better, doing what it is supposed to be doing, pulling something.

Besides, they are delivering my Kubota today down there and I'd like to put it away and not leave it and a bunch of implements in the driveway. Luckily the kid next door is available to help. I had to chuckle when I mentioned to him all this equipment coming in, remembering it's all farm country around us and my tractors are tiny compared to most of the neighbors.
I think the only problem i might have is the tractor i haven't had much experience driving one. But i am a very fast learner if you show me the ropes i will be good to go

now I liked the fact he admitted his limitations. He's young enough that I might be able to do some mentoring if that works out. No job, new baby. Well, he is about to get put to work. I have to learn to do more finger pointing and less lifting.

55*F, calm & clear. Low-80's today with chance of t-storm this afternoon. The forecast is like broken record.

Work on the field project should resume today. The contractor took a long weekend off to go fishing at his camp.

I was cleaning up a pile of rocks and dirt with the backhoe yesterday and found the rusted remnants of a coil of smooth fence wire, or it could have been baling wire. Little pieces of wire started showing up, then I found the coil, about 150' worth. All I could do was rake it out with the bucket teeth and gather pieces. If I tried to fold it up, more little pieces were shed. The area was a home and barn years ago. I've picked and hauled a lot of junk away from there already and thought I had seen the end of it.
