Boy, feels like a brisk early March day! It's only 50 here right now...and quite breezy.

The mandatory outdoor work was done yesterday...I was just outside with the dog and heard my neighbor mowing his half of the field with his Z930 Deere. I'll wager he's pretty chilly (all he has to do is ask and I'll mow his field...done it before).

Good morning all. 61F this morning going to 76F partly cloudy and moderate breeze. Going back to the steering rack installation, have to start over, didn't realize there was a front and back to one of the brackets :(

Dave (moss) good to hear the update.

Dave hope your mom's bones start healing.

RNG nice work on the loader!

Buppies you have "plastic soil" in your neck of the woods. It is around here, clay that does not harden like normal clay.

Good Morning. 1025, sunny, 79F with 58% humidity. Forecast high of 90F with 10% chance of rain today, and a low of 68F tonight. A little warmer today. This morning at 0100 when I was driving in from work it was 64F. That is jacket weather around here.

My morning started off wrong footed when my boss called me at home about 0740 to tell me the first customers today had changed their opening time to 0800 and she had forgot to write it on my schedule. Luckily there were no one with radar along my commute this morning. I was only a couple of minutes late. Another long day for me. I have a party that goes until midnight, then I get to clean up. Nothing tomorrow, so I may come back to town to finish it then. These late nights get harder to handle the older I get.

This is one of the biggest racing weekends of the year. No matter what kind of racing you like, there will be something for you on Sunday. Starting early in the morning with the Grand Prix of Monaco, then later in the morning the Indie 500, and late afternoon the Coke 600.

Hope everyone has a good weekend,

Larro

For some reason unknown to me, English gallons are not quite the same as US gallons. It's probably the only thing that is bigger in the UK than in the USA (about 1/5th more).

.

Originally the gallon was based on the volume of 10 pounds of water. An ounce is 1/160th of a gallon, so that makes your h'pint at the local pub 10 ounces.

63F and very sunny @ 11:20 ... heading up to a high of 72F

Have managed to get about 75% of the old compost pile screened ... with the sun and the high temp today I should be able to knock out most of the rest of it.

The screened pile is getting huge ... hopefully we'll be able to get a good bit of transplanting done over the next several days if we can avoid the t-storms.

Ran into the drainage place yesterday and picked up the last fittings I need (hopefully) to finish the plumbing for the downspout line on the southwest corner of the house.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

RNG,

Beautiful view you have there

Love the area ... used to live in Sac ... worked for a guy up in Penryn that had a tree service company.

Thanks, and Buppies too.

Mom was back into the nursing home 24 hours after the surgery for more rehab and care. I think that's a good sign. A younger person would probably have just gone home. The Docs said the surgery went well and she looks like she is feeling much better in a pic my brother sent.

I'll bet you are into moving mode as soon as the car is done.

It sure doesn't feel like late May. I took the dogs out wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Windy here too.

Up around Caribou, ME they had enough snow to cover the ground last night.

The forecast for Wednesday is high 80's, might hit 90. Pretty crazy weather we've had in all of 2015 so far.

RS, have you figured out a way to automate this?
how do you do it?
I'm sure someone makes a three point hitch attachment for that...;)

Guests have left. Nice to see them, nice to see them leave...
The B&B is now closed.

RNG, my lock and lube worked good on some zeros and on others I still had to hold it on or grease would come out at the connection, hope yours works better. What type of grease do you use?
Nice view, is that a lake with a low water level?

The instructions that came with the LNL warned it would leak if the zirk was damaged or misshapen, so I'll keep an eye out for that. I have an assortment of fittings on hand from Harbor Freight, and have already replaced some of the straight ones with right angle versions to make attaching the gun easier. I've been using Premium Truck and Tractor Grease from Tractor Supply, which seems like a high quality red lithium grease:

Traveller® Premium Heavy-Duty Lithium Complex NLGI #2 Grease, 14 oz. Cartridge - Tractor Supply Co.

Yes, that's the West Branch of the Feather River, part of Lake Oroville. It didn't even get to 50% capacity this year before the rains stopped and the summer time draw down started. Last year the level was down to within two feet of the all time low, and since it didn't get as full this year and the draw down has started earlier, that record will easily be shattered. It was 645' set back in September of '77. The state maintains an on line database that goes back to '85 or so, and here's a plot of the lake elevations since then:

CDEC - Data Application

They track many different parameters, and while most focus on the level because it is the most visible, capacity is what matters and is the one I prefer to track as it reflects ability to deal with drought conditions best. Also available are inflow and outflow measurements, useful for getting a sense of rainfall (also available) and how fast the state water project is emptying the lake.

California Data Exchange Center

Earlier this year they said they'd be holding water use down early in the year in hopes of better meeting higher demands anticipated as the weather warms up, but the data clearly shows they're already nearing the usual draw down rates:

CDEC - Data Application

Much of that demand is driven by state law that mandates minimum flow rates that supposedly protect endangered fish species. But the governor has declared a water emergency that was supposed to have suspended those requirements. Water and politics go hand in hand, and I think this year we'll see some records set on both fronts.

So what kind of bandsaw did you buy Ron?
It's a 14" Craftsman Commercial. More than I need. But much better than my old 12" Craftsman that I paid $35 for. Never thought it would weigh 200 lbs. Tomorrow my son will be over to help the tractor and me unload it from the SUV.

About an hour ago I felt and saw the old house I'm buying shake. I was thinking it was an earth quake.

Then I looked on the news website and around that time an earth quake was reported. So it indeed was an earth quake.

I was sitting at the computer and my chair started shaking. I could literally feel the house sliding from left to right. The house did indeed move. It only lasted about a minute thankfully and no damage done.

Inspired by RedNeckGeek's wine photo to celebrate, when I saw the new Shiner beer at the store - well that's reason enough to celebrate.

We are under a flash flood watch again.
While I had the camera a Painted Bunting trying to dry off between showers graced my road - so I had and get his pic also.

What a beauty of day, started off on cool side but great for stacking wood...1 1/2 cords yet to put in basement, than 3 hours of trimmer time, mowe for 2 hours, best part no break downs or one blackfly attack.
Time for bowl ice cream than not much longer pillow time.

Sleep well all.

Chad, are they doing much fracking in your area? There are hundreds of earthquakes in Oklahoma these days.

   / Good morning!!!! #34,219
Managed to get the mowing finished. Didn't do the trimming. After getting out this morning I noticed how nice the garden was drying. So I tilled it up and started planting. 11 better boy tomatoes and 2 cherry tomatoes. Some carrots and oakra and one row of blue lake bush beans planted.
Mowing didn't go as nice. Got to close to one ditch and needed the tractor because the wheel disappeared. Then got bit by a fly. Now hand is twice the size of the other one. Happens every year. Sometimes more than once. I seen it and killed it. So I know it was a fly.

Sorry about your hand.

Don, that shiner any good? I like me a cold bud light lime or a shiner bock.
