Good morning!!!!

Rain started as I took dog for our morning stroll. We both agreed to cut it short and I will go back out with a more waterproof jacket on once I have had a cup of tea.

What a restful view to take in at the end of the day RNG. Nicely composed photo.

Painted Buntings, delightful. Never seen anything like that over here, that really is an appropriate name (Unless you are kidding me and have been playing with photoshop).

Dandelion wine, that brings back memories. The worst wine I ever tasted was made from dandelions, until the year we tried pea-pod wine. Yuk.
Do kids still give one another dandelion tattoos ?

Everyone seems to be having a busy weekend and it is still only Sunday morning.

This has been a week of scrapes with vehicles. Earlier in the week builders had caught the tire of their van on my 4-1 bucket. The bucket won convincingly, their tire was a right off.
A day or two later Julie noticed scratches across rear bumper of the Honda. Iseki had been parked alongside for a while but I am 100% sure it wasn't involved.

Yesterday evening I took Julie's Subaru out to sit over a dead sheep that had been half eaten by fox. Parked on a hillside about 80 yards away, wound the window down and settled down to wait. Hadn't even loaded the rifle, yet look at the state of the wing mirror.

If it was me that broke it, it must have been done a while back and I never noticed. Only thing for sure is that I am going to be in trouble, it's just a question of time. Could deny it, but then there would surely be a forensic investigation that would make NCIS look like a bunch of fictitious actors. No flowers at my funeral please. Well, maybe a little bunch of dandelions ...

Coffee is done brewing. 51° with clouds this morning. Heading to 77° with a few sunny breaks in the clouds. Son and his family are coming over for breakfast this morning. Hope to get him and Grandson to help with a couple of projects. Then it's NASCAR this evening.
Eric, some days it pays to stay in bed.
Farmer2009, hope you hand heals quick.
txdon, no snakes in the picture?
Good Morning All.

51 here, too. Headed to 84.

Eric, looks like a beautiful place to wait for a fox, but a bad place to shoot from - that bad mirror makes a lousy gun rest :).

Farmer, what kind of flies do you have that swell up a hand?

Heading down to Raleigh for an engagement party for my BIL and fianc馥...hoping that Sunday is the lightest traffic of the Memorial Day weekend. I was on I-95 for a short spell yesterday and it wasn't bad.

Well, a bird nesting update - the Carolina Wren chicks (4) have all successfully fledged from the nest on top of our porch outdoor speaker. In the meantime, phoebes have built one of their beautiful moss sided nests on top of the outdoor spotlight and continue dive bombing off the roof to catch insects.

Caught and killed the first European hornet and bald faced hornet of the year yesterday as they explored the rafters of my tool shed. None of them are invited to nest.

Life is sweet - the sun has come up, honeysuckle fragrance is strong, and the magnolias are blooming.

55 right now and we should see a high of about 80. Beautiful day ahead of us...no particular plans. I do have some work I brought home...a presentation for an FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis)...a risk mitigation process. Probably put a few hours into that today and tomorrow.
But then again...maybe I'll just drink a few beers instead...

I like your way of looking at things Roy.

Sunny and upper 70's today.

I'm going to go play in my field for a few hours for sure. We'll see what else the day brings.

Farmer, Sharon swells up big welts from fly bites or stings. It must have to do with allergic reactions somehow.

My goodness they are getting the rain in TX and OK. Hope everyone in that area stays safe.

Roy, not sure beer is a risk mitigating input. It never seems to work when someone says, "Here, hold my beer and watch this." Supposed to be upper 80's later this week, I need to get some beer.

Went to Georgetown yesterday, almost always do when we come south. The walk on the boardwalk was very busy lots of boats to see. Grady Whites , Blackfin, Makos, Bertrums, and more just can't spell this morning. Big tournament this weekend and we love to look at boats.

Temperature never got above 78 with plenty of sunshine and nice breeze

Never been bitten by a fly that makes your hand swell. Farmer hope it heals soon

Texas is going to stay wet and we are going to stay hot and dry. Hurricanes may be a no show but Derachos are possible in this weather pattern.

Eric sorry about your wife's car I know I would be in deep dodo the kind where a dog house would be nice

60F and sunny @ 09:00 ... headed to a high of 80F ...

Have to cut and replace a couple of rotted out chip board panels on the soil screen this morning, then get the yard mowed later this afternoon. Probably be a good day to get the coils on the AC unit cleaned out as well.

The only thing that's left to screen of the compost pile is a small pile of stuff that's been screened previously ... mostly rocks, sticks, and other debris.

Got the southwest downspout drain all tied in yesterday ... need to clean out that gutter before whatever is in it makes its way down into the pipe.

Still waiting on the local Stihl dealer's repair guy to get to my brushcutter ... dropped it off on May 5th and was told that they had a 2 week wait time. Called on Friday and was told they still hadn't gotten to it ... and their backlog was running 2 to 3 weeks ... said to call back mid next week.

Hope everyone has a productive and enjoyable day.

Looks like a typical "I didn't know it was loaded" scene.

Eric, No photo shop or adjustments of any kind on the Painted bunting, one of the pretties birds that arrive in the spring.

66 99 Temp and humidity. 3.3 more inches of rain last night and we are flooded in. All three county roads leaving my place are impassable due to the high water, so we are stuck on the hill for a while. I have never seen the water this high before on these roads. I just hope when the water goes down that the roads are still there.

Ah well it is just a mirror. I had to think about that a minute with you driving on the left side of road. Been down any narrow one way lanes lately where a limb or other object could clip the mirror as you pass by it? My first thought was that you just got clipped by an SUV that is one mirror taller then your car in passing but of course that would be on the other side. Perhaps your contractors have a pickup with incriminating paint transfer on their mirror.

Mucho flooding about 60 miles west of here (SW of Austin). Of local epic proportions they are saying. Some places, with already saturated grounds, got over 12".

The website ATXfloods shows Don's road to be open.

66 this morning and headed to 87 today. Rain moving in tonight and 50-80% chances for next 10 days. Sounds like plenty of time for inside work.

Thanks guys. Hand is almost back to normal size. After a couple of rounds of Benadryl. It's some kind of biting fly. I can get bit on my arms legs neck ect. and it just leaves a welp. But on the back of my hand or my knuckles and my hand swells. Have had to go to doctor over it before. I'm sure it's an allergy of some kind.

Have somethings to do in chicken coops then back to garden.

They must not update gravel roads - still have about 2' of water going across the road.

Our neighbors are in Wimberly Tx - they had 13" of rain bridges are washed out - 300 homes gone - very serious. Their most rain in recorded history.

Still on the hill/ island.

60F under clear skies, heading for a high of 87F and a slight chance for thunderstorms later. Had a few sprinkles yesterday afternoon as a fat popcorn shaped cloud or two flew overhead, but it wasn't even enough to wet the patio.

Eric, we've all shot things that couldn't be seen through the telescopic sight, but not many of them were a mirror on a Honda! Is a special permit required to take one of those, and is there a bag limit?

Don, think if we get enough cactus beer into Kalifornia it would end the drought? Seems to have done the trick in Texas, what with your roads being closed and all. Worth a try, and I'll keep an eye out next time I'm in town. A few months ago I found a variety six pack of Shiner, and every one of 'em was good. And that's a doozy of a paint job on that bird. Almost like it flew through a spray booth or two on the way north ;)

Farmer, we usta have horse flies in Ohio that would bite like that. Couldn't feel the bite until it was too late, but they were slow enough you could usually kill 'em so they couldn't get you again. A baking soda poultus helped draw out the sting, but these days there are sting swabs that work better.

Chad, might want to check to see if the house is bolted to the foundation. Even in California many aren't, and that's the first thing an insurance company wants to see before it'll write a policy.

Got started changing the oil on the truck yesterday, but it looks like five minutes of idling wasn't enough to sufficiently warm and thin the oil. It was very slow coming out of the EZPour, enough so that I gave up and just let it run over night. Was gonna do the tractor, too, but don't have the right filter. Found a couple for the RTV, so I'll take care of that today. Then start in on reinforcing the dump bed, which has had one too many unfortunate encounters with the tractor bucket. I'll need some steel for the job, so will be back down to the metals supplier early in the new week, and will suggest to the DR rebuilding neighbor that he tag along in hopes of finding sheet for his mower deck.

Speaking of whom, he called yesterday to let me know he'd removed the bearing housing for the blade from the mower, and the lower bearing bore was completely worn out. As in worn off! No bearing, no race, no nothing. Sounds like I'll have to build it back up with weld metal then re-machine the bore, as he's already found that parts are no longer available. He also says there's a bottle of Scotch in it for me, so here's hoping it's a good bottle.

Good Morning. 1015, mostly cloudy, 80F with 76% humidity. Forecast high of 89F with 40% chance of rain today, and a low of 72F tonight. Margie called me at work just before midnight to say the AC was out. I didn't look at it when I got in at 0230, but did this morning. It seems to be blowing cool air outside at the unit and hot air in the house. We called our AC man and he hasn't got back to us yet. We do have a 2nd unit, so part of the house can be closed off and kept cool. If this thing drags out we will be sleeping on the sofa sleeper in my den. I don't have any customers scheduled at work today, but I do have to go back and finish my cleanup. We also have a little graduation dinner to go to later, so I won't be home sweating too much today.

I'm trying to catch up on my race watching. I'm just now getting to F1 Quali, so I'm a good day behind. I'm heading to the couch from here {with a good book} so might not get too much of it watched before I start the napping. I doubt I'll get caught up before tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
