“Randy, so your birthday is August 2nd?”
That’s right Ron.

.78 inches of rain overnight and this morning. 74° early, very overcast and gray. Looks like most of the day is going to be like that, high of 83.

Good morning to all! Low of 58, going up to the upper 90s today. Now a chance of T-storms today and through the weekend. The front coming across the area last night kicked up some good T-storms to the east creating a nice light show. The wind got a little stronger and you could smell the humidity increase but not a drop of rain.

As I was leaving yesterday, going down the porch steps, the knee gave out on the last step. I went stumbling down onto the gravel drive, acquiring some new wounds on the knee/leg, hands, and forehead. Not really too much blood (just a bunch of deep scratches and an abrasion on the forehead).

I can now join the painful shoulder club... I must have caught most of my weight on my outstretched left arm. Mr knee is really complaining too. Needless to say, I did not sleep well last night. Could not find any comfortable position, tried the recliner trick... that was worse.

Yesterday's errands went ok, but by the time I got back, I had zero energy and was really too 'stiff' from the fall to do anything. One of the stops was to get either brass or stainless steel screws for the park bench slats. They were available, but I was not going to pay almost $1 per screw / nut! The old screws will get cleaned and I'll run a tap / die on them and clean up the threads.

It seems that the bench project will never get done! Small "fix it" honey-do jobs keep cropping up for the wifey. A wind chime got blown apart breaking the thread, so she wants them taken down so she can rethread them. A bookshelf has become "wobbly", so that needs to get unloaded and tightened up. A couple other little things too.... so many projects, so little time. I think wifey is just trying to keep me from going out to the shop so she can keep an eye on me and keep me out of trouble!

Everyone have a great day ..... and maybe an early start to the weekend?

The humidity levels have really gone up this morning. Yesterday was at 7%, it is at 60% currently. Low hanging clouds at the top of the mountains.

Good morning-73 going to 78 and light drizzle - first day below 90 in weeks :cool2:

Kyle, that lathe looks hefty- much more complex than the ones I used to use at work way back when- even those simple ones probably weighed in at a 500 pounds or so, don't make them like that anymore.

BEF - almost removed my arm in a winter mountain biking accident 12 years ago (amazing how 5 layers of clothing can keep one together) still bothers me with the rods and screws sometimes. Glass of wine and a few advil help, sometimes. Hope the pain lessens and you get some sleep

Ron-can't use diesel as this is a house sofit and would seep into the house. But the Exterminator uses Tempo powder-mine should arrive with an applicator today:cool2:.

Randy - we share birth dates !

LS-you ok? Ice up or you will feel it even more tomorrow.

Drew- what did you decide to do to lift the cooker? (I have a similar Coleman one-it is now 50 years old and still works!)

Inside jobs mostly today with the rain.

Stay safe and be well.

So Happy Birthday, Randy. And I didn't get quite as much rain last night as you did. I figure I only got about .57", but the yard was in dire need of mowing so I just went ahead and mowed, edged, and trimmed anyway. And we also had 74 degrees early this morning but forecast to go to a sunny 90.

Ken, I think a cinder block and a baking tin will do the job.

well...hurricane forecast not looking so good, almost looks like it's coming over my head on Monday. Not good in a small camper.
So being cautious I reserved a site in a rv campground 45 miles West of here and asked for a site not near trees.
At 35 bucks a night it's cheap insurance, even if storm stays further out to sea and I don't go.
Plus they have a propane fill station there and that will be the first thing I do on Sunday when I arrive is get the tank filled
in case they lose power. Also going to pick up another couple pairs of wheel chocks tomorrow at TSC.

Ron, if it gets bad, should I pull the slide in??? would make for a very short bed...

Drew - if it gets bad, do either of the sites have a solid building to get to, just in case ?
LS - 70% that's a lot for your area, only avg for here July/August (which is why you moved there I assume :) )

Yes it is very high humidity for this area.... Usually consider 40-45% high. I am still amazed that it can be raining and humidity can be at 75%.... figure that out....

Oh... and the reason we moved out here.... TEMPORARY INSANITY ! !

76F and partly cloudy @ 11:00, high today predicted to hit 87F. No chance of rain until later tonight. Didn't end up getting any rain yesterday either.

Baited live trap day before yesterday, didn't get anything first night ... have a possum this morning, which I'll probably just let go.

Got another load of stuff moved out of garage to around back yesterday, also got all wood moved inside basement.

Split 2 pallets of landscape block into 3 so I could safely move them over uneven terrain to around back so only two pallets remaining out front now.

Moved pressure washer up to garage and examined it, should be easy to drain old fuel. That's near top of list for today.

Cleaned off auger rack with siding cleaner ... still has some green algae on it so may hit that with the pressure washer once I get that running.

Picked a spot for Northern Flicker nest box and started to drill a hole for the PVC pipe with new 2" auger which will hold the pole. Hit a rock so I switched over to using a piece of steel tube and the 8 lb sledge ... made it about 1' down, still need to go another 1'. Have to cut PVC pipe today and drill and glue end caps on pipes then paint pipes. May use bentonite to fill in around pipes to lock them in.

Coated top of flicker nest box with BLO/beeswax mixture the other day, ended up being was a bit more fluid than I would have thought. Ended up drying "tacky" though ... will be interesting to see if it hardens up any with time.

Noticed either a female or juvenile Northern Flicker on suet hangers this morning. Lots of bird activity since I refilled feeders. Hummer even came by looking for its feeder yesterday evening, so need to get that refilled and put out today.

Cleaned grass off mower last night before knocking off.

Waiting to hear from Ron whether Menards rebate has been extended or whether I need to plan on making the trip either tonight or tomorrow before rebate ends.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...
