Pulled covers off water heater elements, water ran out. No wonder breaker tripping. But both elements ohmed out ok. Had a bunch of weird white flaky stuff in there in addition to rust. Think the elements are too rust to even get them out. Water Heater 10 yrs old.

Eric, I have been meaning to post these pics for a few weeks and keep forgetting.....

It is my favorite jelly / preserves... I keep a few different kinds on hand for my e-muffins! Thomas, you should try some if you can find it.

Wife picked up a jar, it’s good!!

Good evening all. 73F for the start, mostly clear sky, light breeze, .5 in in rain gauge. Moderate wind day, sky stayed mostly clear, high temp was 89F feels like 92F. Bike ride to start day, was supposed to take wife to fabric store, but she decided to go on her own during tomorrow's ride :) Did get nap in, did not get tree trimmed :(
Covid update: Cooke 197 confirmed cases, 6 active cases, Montague 54 confirmed cases, 4 active cases, Grayson 987confirmed cases, 46 active cases
Dennis hope chair works, any idea why breakers are tripping?
David are your tires loaded? Never had a problem with R1 and whole lot was a slope. However did not have your rain either
Kyle is now Lathe king as well as compressor king :)
Drew hope you get your insurance and propane worked out.
Billy hope good news from vet, had days like that when working on stuff, sometimes trips back to parts store :(
Eric humidity plays a role also in the misery index :)
Ron busy day of errands/shopping, nice pic
Don good luck with attic ventilation, 3 hours at dealer sounds like torture
RNG, still hoping the gallon finishes coating the tank
Ted sorry about your fall. I need to do some tree trimming and have same problem
Ken enjoy your rain and inside jobs
Bird we have almost the exact same amount of rain :)
Drew hope you don't have to move, you might ask the RV maker about slides in/out in storms
RS have not seen fish pic in a while hint hint
Bird, interesting story
Randy gotta love seat time
Thomas, neat pics
David did you finish mowing in fewer hours ?
prayers for all, especially Drew, Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, and Country
stay safe and healthy you all.

76F and clear @ 22:00, high reached 85F for the day.

Finished removing grass debris from the mower first thing this morning then moved it around back to wash the hydraulic fluid off and hose it down first thing tomorrow. Since I had the pallet forks on I gathered up one large log and bunch of branches from the dying maple on the east side, then swung by the drive down to the barn and grabbed the big downed branches over there as well and hauled them up to the burn pile.

Mixed up some juice and filled up the hummingbird feeder when I came back down to the house.

After that I got the old gas drained out of the pressure washer. Didn't look bad but who knows ... :confused3: Then ran down to the corner gas station and grabbed 5 gallons of unleaded. Swung by the hardware on the way back and picked up some chain repair links which were the last item I needed to complete the auger stand.

Checked sparrow trap, dropped off the new hard lines for the loader and grabbed an empty paint can, brush cleaner, 1 1/2 inch hole saw and a drop piece of 3/8" thick angle at the shop on the way back in. No guests in the trap ... but then I haven't been seeing much activity up in that area the last several days.

Aired up the tires on the Simplicity when I got back and moved the auger stand around to the front side of the garage, moved one of the two remaining pallets of block in the front over next to the other one so they weren't sticking out so far.

Completed "drilling" the hole for the Northern Flicker nest box mount in the ground using a piece of thin wall tube, the 3/8" angle, and the 8 lb sledge then cut the PVC pipe and glued the caps with drain holes onto the PVC. PVC is 30" long, with 24" below grade. Then I drilled the hole in the squirrel baffle with the hole saw and loaded the nest box with pine shavings. Hauled all the stuff over to the hole from the back of the house and placed the PVC pipe down in the hole filling in around it with bentonite which I watered in.

Then screwed the 10' section of 1" black pipe into the pipe flange on the bottom of the nest box, slid the squirrel baffle over the pipe, along with the modified shaft collar which I tightened up at the highest possible point I could and then somehow managed to lift it all up (32+ lbs on the end of 10' long pipe ...) and set it down into the PVC pipe without breaking anything. This is how it ended up:

IMG_4571 copy.jpg

Pretty much nailed vertical on the east/west axis, but the pipe leans slightly south on the north/south axis ... which is actually fine because the nest box is supposed to face anywhere from south to east (it's facing due south) and it's supposed to lean slightly forward to aid the nestlings in leaving the nest. So I pretty much nailed "drilling" the hole ... even though I wasn't really trying ... :cool2:

After I finished with the sledge I gave it a coating of the BLO/beeswax concoction.

Somewhere in there I also managed to call the power company and request that they send out someone to trim the oak tree and rhododendron that has grown up into the power lines.

All in all, a fairly decent day ... feels like I got a little something done ...

Hope everyone had a great day.

Good morning, shade temperature peaked at 32C/90F yesterday, which was quite an experience for someone not acclimatised to that sort of heat. Fortunately it has passed by, heavy clouds should keep this afternoon to no more than 18C/64F. A good day to have a play in a pond and take out some of the excess weed growth.

RS, I hope the Northern Flickers appreciate the effort you put into the nest box. I have come across bentonite for making things water tight and bedding electrical grounding rods, never thought of it before for fixing tight a pole - always something new to learn on here !

Bef, it would be quite a trick if you could fix that water heater with bentonite too :)

Good morning all
hot day ahead, before the storm
headed out early to do food shopping, then off to Washington to old neighbor's house to pick up a few things.
Will stop at TSC to get another pair of wheel chocks.
Hurricane's path now shown as directly over city of Washington, and winds in Greenville over 50mph. So...likely a good thing
I'm moving rv to the West.

Thunderstorm last night really made some noise, miss my weather station so I can see how much rain came down.
At least nothing leaked in rv but a lot of creaking noises.

Buckeye that water heater looks nasty. Do you have really hard water?
Suggests that we all ought to pull that panel off periodically and look in there.

RS you really did get a lot done

Covid count in my old town has been jumping rapidly, was in low thirties for a long time, now 330 with 2 deaths. Worrisome...
my old neighbor is a fireman/EMS and has been transporting CV patients, concerned he will bring something home to his family.

57 right now....high in the mid-80's today
Chores: Dump run, than trim some branches and do some weed trimming/pulling. I want to mow the field too...that'll be either today of tomorrow morning. No AC in the cab, so I want to get done before it get's too hot. Doesn't look like the lawn will need mowing this weekend

74 going to 87. Rain probably.

RS, real nice flicker box. They are cool birds. Hope you grow a bunch.

LS, how's that knee?

Randy, enjoy your cookout party.

Mostly, good prioritizing...nap first!

Grass never dried yesterday before going to vet, then it stormed before we got home, so was a bust on outside work. Need to mow today once dry.
