Got a flash flood watch notice. Pulled up radar and rain all around us. Just a slight sprinkle so far.
Going to try to just sleep in chair tonight.

Water heater breaker tripped again, was late getting to work, so stayed at work till 7.

Got a couple hours with the flail, about 1/3 of current area. Too wet at start but better after lunch.. Managed to stir some wifely comments re the R1 tires and mud in garden area before lunch, figured that was good enough to wait some more. so advised, I mowed more distant, sunnier areas after lunch. I see R4’s in the future.

Good morning 71, going up to 95 again and Sunny

Sodamo, make sure the frame on the slider is square ?
Good news Roy
Fan looks perfect LS
Had exterminator come out - full bee gear to get at Yellow Jackets-but they just moved their nest 20 feet over after he left :-( time to make another call....

Hope to get some yard cleanup done today

Stay safe and be well.

Drive up to nest at night, open vehicle door, spray Raid Wasp spray (black can). They'll drop. Raid is best stuff I know of short of extreme chemicals.

Thanks, I would prefer the Lexan

Polycarbonate may be hard to get right now, with companies buying it up to make shields for their employees. It sure is pricey. 1/4" x 4 x 8 mcmaster price $210 but if you want UV, $298 and if you want UV and scratch resistant, $496. Ouch.

I will have to consider back drafting due to the gas water heater in the garage. I think some vents in the garage door panels will take care of that problem.

Don, you need to be really careful about this. Not sure of your end goal. Did you put insulation in attic above garage? You might consider a mini split, if you just want to be able to go out in garage and work comfortably. Moving air with your gas heater flume in play, is possible bad outcome.

Good morning. It was 75° and humid this morning and our forecast says 90° this afternoon. Luckily .. we had a nice breeze this morning.

We've got four large live oaks of which the branches of two overhang the lane off the main drive to the house. My supervisor advised that it would be appreciated if I trim up the low limbs the she had to drive her SUV under. That became my project yesterday morning before it got hot.

I got out my trusty HF 40 volt pole saw and got busy. I don't like to do major tree trimming, when it's hot but .. managed to trim up lowest branch tips to about 10 ft. above the driveway.

The branches of another live oak, in the front yard, were so low I couldn't get under them to mow, with the zero turn, so I worked on that with the 40 V pole saw this morning.

View attachment 664776

After getting all the trimmed limbs to a burn pile, I went to get on the ZT to do some mowing under the trimmed trees. Nope! Left side tire was flat. I grabbed my portable pancake air compressor, to inflate the tire but that was a no go .. indicating the inside bead was broken. I jacked it up, grabbed my pneumatic impact and removed the tire, only to find a piece of about 14 gauge steel wire in the inner sidewall.

I'll try a plug, after lunch but .. likely it won't hold in the sidewall. A new tire (26x12-16) is about $170 or I can get a complete new wheel and and tire for $208. This is an uncommon size and seems to be hard to find. I can't imagine how many $$$ it would be at the Kubota dealer. I need to make a decision this afternoon.

Welcome .. to our new members.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Prayers to all.

Rick, Get a plug/patch. Clean around the inside good with brass wire brush, put some goop on it and pull plug through. Then needle down the patch part. Good to go.

Lathe at work is finally going. It is a pseudo copy of a Clausing Colchester, this one is designed by Lagun, made in Taiwan, and is called ironically an American Turnmaster. It has been a good lathe overall. A hardinge might be a bit better in some ways, but I like the gear change style of these.

This shows the clutch pack. I had to replace the shaft these ride on. Getting the clutches adjusted properly was a bear, and took hours of learning and fiddling. I had to loosen each side up waaay loose, and then with a small screwdriver, I had to separate the friction and drive plates to get fresh oil in them. They kept wanting to stick on me and when you would turn on the motor, it would take off in either forward or reverse....Also, I lapped the individual plates on a flat surface to get them 90-95% flat and cleaned up....by hand.

Below are some of the shafts I had to remove to get to the one I needed to replace.

And lastly, I mounted an oil filter on it so it could get clean oil.

Stick with the R1s if you are on slopes.

72° and by the radar the much needed rain has avoided us.

Morning all.

Still sitting in lazy boy trying to get some more sleep. This brings back memories of sleeping in this chair for over 2 months after surgery a couple years ago.

Nice job on the lathe Kyle.

Na, don’t think so. My 2 previous tractors had R-4s, never a problem. The only thing these R1’s does better is tear things up, even on slopes, actually more so on slopes. I can hardly drive it anywhere without making tracks.
Repetitive trips - forget it.

good morning all
another hot day, heat advisory out, still 78 degrees out and headed up to high 90's

Buckeye, hope your pains go away soon
Thanks for prayers for friend, hope they help like I believe they did for me

Trip to Camping World this morning, then stopping at propane dealer to see about getting rv tank filled,
and more specifically, can they make an adapter for me so I can use a 30 pound tank externally to add capacity.

got an email saying my umbrella policy had cancelled for non pay. ?? Never got the bill, and insurance agent did not reply to me from call last week.
Will be calling them this morning for sure. When I owned my own independent agency we got copies of everything that went out to client, and if we saw a non pay notice,
we always called client to make sure they saw it. Some of this was "preservation of business" but also worried about legal liability if client had bad uncovered claim and decided to blame me. File folder always noted that call was made. I guess that older style of service isn't done anymore or perhaps they
are going to blame it on coronovirus. Counts btw still jumping in this area. I continue to be extra careful.

time for a bagel, and then some granola with blueberries later.
Hope you all have a good Friday

Been out for a walkabout with Coco...still some drizzle after a wonderful 1.4 inches of rain last evening and overnight. First big rain since mid June. 74 going to 85.

Rick, you run your 1211 a lot. With you sitting on it and full tanks, it weighs over a ton. I'd think about putting a new tire on it and fixing the old one as a quick spare in case of another flat. That mower will be with you for many years.

Kyle, great job...sounds challenging.

BEF, hope the chair gave you a better rest.

David, always liked my R4s.

Lack of sleep had me in a bit of a fog yesterday. Took me twice as long to change the oil and filter on my tractor as usual...parked it under a shade tree, at a flat spot, a bit of a walk from the shed...kept forgetting to take everything I needed...must have made 5 or 6 trips. But otherwise, at least I didn't spill any oil or take the wrong filter off :). Never had a chance to dig sand from the creek, and with last night's rain, hope it is flowing again. I'll take a hike down and look once it gets light out. Back to vet today.
