96 degrees out, drip, drip
but the blades sharpened great using a Dewalt hand grinder and some elbow grease.
right near us was the obvious answer to our backup/jackstand/last resort needs, and they rolled right up to the spot
like they were out for a walk.

whole thing was fifteen minutes from start of tying up to dropping it down. And then fifteen minutes of exasperation and sweaty despair
when the miserable pto hitch spline refused to line up. I finally had to do what worked last time, get down on my back under the whole thing and work from below.
it's all lubed...they really need to design a better mousetrap here. so half the time to sharpen the blades and half the time fighting with the pto slide connection that requires at least three hands to hold the retaining ring in while keeping level and providing substantial forward motion. It didn't cooperate today; other days it slides right on.

the straps are rated for double the entire mower's weight so wasn't concerned, but the round wood chocks were worth taking a picture of.
see, it did happen...:D

Well, table is in service for the 4th, but when I have time, I'll likely sand and do another coat or two of urethane.
For those interested, table is about 96x89, 113 at diagonal.
Lazy Susan is a tad small, but only paid $50 for the glass so works for now.
Like the new chairs, good match

I 'd guess a chair at each corner and 16 would still be comfy.

Drew, are you ready for your 1st hurricane at your new place? I know you aren't in it yet.

sure going to find out. There are no large trees near the house; that's a plus, and one of the first things I'm doing is putting in a backup gen.
the siding on the house is pretty tired, not sure how it would last. I'm probably eight miles north of the Pamlico, and intentionally not in a flood plain, so
I think the water risk isn't bad. No basement in this house; need to find a safe hidey hole. No question, I will be in the path of the typical NorEaster, but then I always have been, so....

Drew, I think if there was much vulnerability you would have seen evidence of past storms.

David, you did such a fine job on that table, it's a shame you have to cover it with a table cloth. Maybe just a runner down the middle?

Mandatory evacuation of Hatteras declared.

Agree 100%.

I used to say cutting down on meat and increasing veggies was too hard. Then I said that's easy but being vegetarian is very hard to do. Then I said being vegan is very hard to do and vegetarians have it made. Then I said being fat free vegan is very hard to do and plain vegans have it made. Then I said being fat free, vegan, whole food, low sugar was too hard but I'm getting use to it.

For those who think they can work out and then eat anything they want as a reward - I just laugh. I was there once also . . . . . had to learn the hard way. . .

It took me a long time, but now I know that no amount of exercise can overcome a bad diet. I now read labels, I stay away from potatoes and bread. I am trying to keep to under 1500 calories per day. It's ok most days, but I slip up some days, but I am getting better at it. I am doing stength training 3 days per week, cardio every day. I feel better, and am noticing that I can do more.

After the hubbub of the holiday, the plan is to just get some placements, but I like the runner idea too.

Good Evening.

Low 90's and T-storms this afternoon, nothing serious. Currently 72*F with 92% humidity, blech!

This winter's firewood is stacked in the garage. Finished that today. Still have a bit more to cut and split for next winter.

The VFD had a mutual aid call out at 4:15 pm. The squad truck almost made it to the fire scene ... but it got sucked into freshly graded and rain-saturated muck where a real berm is supposed to be. The muck with a steep down slope started about 6" beyond the white line. I was riding in the back and could tell what was happening. We oozed to a halt with no apparent damage. Trees and tipping onto the side were near things.

So, I stood around in a t-storm rain doing traffic control for our own truck until the wrecker got it out. I told the squad driver as long as I didn't hear screams from the front seat, I wasn't worried. Never trust the berms on Maine's secondary roads. So, that was my evening adventure.

Good Evening. It has cooled down to 80F, and only got up to 96F today. But 99F with a heat index of 109 is the forecast for tomorrow. I needed to go to Blountstown and Marianna today, but didn't get off the Larro Ranchero all day. I'll have to get it done tomorrow.

Drew, what we used to do with Bush Hog blades was to take them off and sharpen on a bench grinder. You still had to lay on your back some, but not during the sharpening phase of the job. And our safety chocks were a couple of blocks of oak wood under the back with it still hooked to the 3ph. But then back then people still did all kinds of stupid things, like smoke tobacco. Luckily we have outgrown all that juvenile behavior:)

64 right now, high of 87 and maybe a thunderstorm today.
We got a fair amount of rain yesterday but the hardest downpours were in southern VT and New Hampshire.

Poured first cup of coffee. 63ー with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 70ー with chance of rain this morning. Off to PT again this morning. Going to have explain why I have lost ground on arm recovery. Replaced the 6, 8 volt batteries in our golf cart yesterday. Not only is my arm sore. But so is my wallet. Cutting lawn in the afternoon should be enough for the day.
Good Morning All.

Very muggy 80 degrees here already rained a couple of times. Constant wind of 15 to 20 mph guess the tropical storm is getting closer oh now its a hurricane. Supposed to get 50mph winds dangerous surf and 3in of rain or so. Today will be an inside day or maybe go shopping either way we will have fun. The surf noise from our deck is very loud and constant now coming out of the NE. Suppose later it will get wild and wooly. Good morning
