70*F. Upper 80's with scattered t-storms this afternoon and evening. 80% chance of rain all day Friday.

Not good for the fireworks preparations. We use a big hay field. If it rains enough to make the ground too soft for traffic it will get postponed. Last year we were rained out July 4th and again on Labor Day weekend.

Well, the driver did get over the white line. With the steep drop-off and saturated loose soil, once the wheels get caught in that you generally aren't going to drive out of it. There is very little margin for error and it was raining hard at the time. The roads do suck. There is virtually no usable berm there. The squad truck is built on a small Freightliner cab chassis, it's not very nimble.

As usual on mutual aid calls, our tankers weren't needed. It was an attic fire in a house that the local VFD got under control, but in areas with no hydrants they call out mutual aid from surrounding towns for structure fires. It takes us about 30 minutes from the call to arriving at that particular scene, so waiting to see if help is really needed is a bad idea.

There will typically be units from 2-4 surrounding towns en-route to a structure fire in areas that rely on mutual aid. Sometimes help gets canceled before we are 5 miles from the station, sometimes they hold the tankers on scene without ever using them. The local chief coordinates and makes the calls on the situation. It's one of those better safe than sorry things.

Good morning all. 59F this morning less wind than yesterday. Forecast is for 79F and sunny. Getting ready for a noon departure, niece is getting married at in-laws. Then there is boating and fishing and water-skiing opportunities as well. Maybe I can still get up, weight loss will help.

Good Morning. 1020, partly cloudy, 90F {heat index of 100} with 60% humidity. Forecast high of 96F with 25% chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon, and a low of 71F tonight. I have already done my lifting, and picked everything in the garden but the black eyes and tomatoes. And that might have to wait for late this afternoon. I'm running up to Lowe's to pick up more wire and some 4X4 posts. I'm going to move my garden fence and strengthen it enough {with some light cable I have} so I can plant grapevines along it. Then I have to go into work to water the lobby plants.

68*F, clouds, 100% chance of rain today and tonight. Rain tomorrow morning with 20-30 mph winds.

This is not good for our VFD fireworks. The plan is to meet up at 10 am today and begin preparations. I think they may re-schedule the fireworks for Sunday if the hay field is not too wet. We'll see.
