Spent most of the afternoon/evening on tank maintenance in the fish room ... and still managed to save some for tomorrow ... :D

Just a little behind in there ...

Started doing the design/layout in the CAD program last night for the new lawn vacuum so I can figure out how much sheet steel I need. Looks like one 72" x 144" and two 48" x 96" sheets should do it ...

I likely have most all the rest of the steel (angle, rectangular bar for the frame, etc) on hand ... except for the hardware cloth/screen for the exhaust.

Still need to order the axles and the hubs ... and possibly tires and wheels, although I may have a solution for those here already.

Basically it will be a knock off of a Locke Turf/Debris Vacuum ... which was sold by Gravely, Toro, and some others I believe:

Locke Vac.jpg

... with a couple of possible modifications:

1. Rather than being 60" wide, I think I'm going to keep it to only 48" wide (the distance between outside of left rear wheel to outside of right rear wheel on the Kubota is 54") ... to make it fit better within the width footprint of the B2910 and hopefully keep things a little more maneuverable ... also might allow using it behind a smaller piece of equipment in the future.

2. Will allow space for the pickup snout ... but don't plan on building one at this point - the vacuum will be directly attached to the MMM on the Kubota.

Final specs TBD ...

I gave up on Costco, when I retired full time to the ranch. I still use Sam's Club and most of my needs can be bought online with free shipping because our Plus Business Membership. I stayed with Sam's because Business members can get in at 7 a.m. (in normal times). Costco .. no special hours for business members.

On the rare occasion, I shop at the Sam's, that's about a mile from our Richmond house. As I pick up my items, I scan each with my phone, using Sam's "Scan n Go". When I'm done, I bypass checkout and head straight to the exit, show the attendant my phone, his scanner looks at my phone, downloads ALL TNT posts, and I'm on my way. EZPZ!

I used to have both sams and Costco. Dropped sams because Costco had more stuff I liked and is closer, and cheap gas. Our sams didn’t have gas then, does now.
Might go back to both, like the idea of scan n go.

RS how close does the bushing OD need to be?

Don't know exactly.

When I started looking at doing this, I was initially looking at press-fit bushings at McMaster ... and it seemed like they spec'd quite a bit of variation in the OD of their press-fit bushings (might be this ... but could be that ...)

On these spring bushings I'm not really sure ... more research to do.

step drilling or reaming will leave more precise hole.

Yup ... might have to invest in a decent quality adjustable reamer ...

I killed the 1" "HF special" I had on the grapple project ...

Good morning, we are enveloped with mist, possibly caused by the rain that fell to the north of us yesterday, while we had nothing but sunshine. It will soon burn off, with sun expected all the way until dusk.

... From OpticsRE you値l be able to tweak settings. I check the site as the 5th thing I do every morning and one of last things at night as well as times in between. Overkill, I know.

David, I can relate to that, despite our solar panels only heating the hot water cylinder. It has become something of a game to guess the water temperature at different times of the day, particularly when there are random clouds to account for. People who lead interesting lives don't know what fun they are missing :)
