Left foot braking is dangerous.

I've used my left foot for braking since about 1999. When I had a stroke, my right side was paralyzed for a while...my right leg still isn't (and won't ever be) fully functional. I learned to brake properly with my left leg and it works pretty well after a short "learning" curve.
In PA (where I lived at the time), after a stroke, one has to take a driving test (required by PA DOT)...I passed with no problems using my left leg for braking.

Having been a police officer AND having supervised the department's safety section, I learned to absolutely forbid that practice. It works just fine as long as there's NEVER anything unexpected or an emergency. But when something unexpected happens, you may stomp down on the brake with your left foot AND the gas with your right foot at the same time. In an unexpected emergency, or even in a collision, there's a tendency to push down with both feet, and that's OK as long as neither foot is near the accelerator pedal.

I could not do that. I hate following 2 footed drivers. They keep left foot on brake enough to have brake lights on and off and on and off, without braking.

23°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 34° today. Wintry mix stuff coming at us tomorrow, but the professional guessers have no idea when just yet.

I've never been burdened by an HOA, just the peer pressure of "keeping up with the Joneses" in suburbia. The rural area where we live now has just the right amount of rules; none. Most of the land owners near us keep their places pretty neat. There is one newer couple just up the road who everyone refers to as Ma & Pa Kettle, and another a few miles from us that may as well be a scrap yard. Everywhere else, though, is pretty well-kept.

Welcome back, David.

He did say for an automatic.

I have driven using the left foot for both brake and gas, while sitting in the right seat. They taught that in an offensive driving course I once took. We had to drive as fast as we could like that. This was in an automatic.

A later than usual Good Afternoon me. I got some unexpected 4wd tractor time in this morning, driving through soggy fields to retrieve a dead ewe. She was very large and for this last week very distinctive due to wearing a harness for an earlier prolapse.

I thought something must be up when I couldn't see her with the rest as I walked around the far hay meadow. She had wandered away from the others into another field, I found her laying in water in the middle of a clump of rushes, unmolested by crows or foxes and with some lush grass still half hanging out of her mouth, so she could simply have expired.

No one needs to say "sorry" or anything, this is just the way it is with keeping livestock. I am really thankful when these things happen that I have a loader tractor, not so many years ago my only option would have been a long walk with a wheelbarrow.

RNG, good to hear all the solar stuff is finally coming together. Have you said thanks to all those Californian officials who made the last year so difficult ? - without them you would still be quite a few posts short of your "Super member" status
