Good morning! Last decent day before our first serious taste of winter....

Thank you to all veterans, past and present for your service and sacrifice.

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 28° with snow this morning. Heading to 31° with 3 to 5" of snow. All I got done yesterday was put battery savers on tractor and mower. Probably pressing my luck on not getting blade and snow blower on. Only takes a couple of minutes if needed to put blade on tractor. Eye Dr. appointment this morning. Then come home and make today another rest day.

Thank You Veterans.

Bird, sorry to hear about your back. Chair looks good. I bought 2 lazy-Boy chairs with all the adjustments except lift. Worth every $ we paid for them. Yours looks even better.

Wngsprd, there is a Kawasaki dealer that I have to pass every time I go to Walmart or TSC. I stop there every so often to keep me thinking young.

Steppen, great pictures.

David, I am sure you can get all kinds of help from GM to fill that space. :D

Payers and best wishes to all.

Good Morning All.

good morning all. Little warmer today, last dry day for awhile.

the tree foliage pictures are really pretty.
In the deep woods behind our farmhouse growing up there was a stream that went through the woods and down to the
Delaware River below. Our property went down to the River and the bluffs were hundreds of feet high.
There was a large flat rock near the stream, and we used to go flat on our stomachs on that rock and just drink from the icy cold water.
That stream picture reminds me of that. Also remember sitting on a large rock nearby, just listening to the gentle noise of the brook.
Unfortunately our horse farm neighbor upstream did a poor job of managing his manure pile and the whole stream became contaminated with ecoli, as did our farm well.
Ever since that well has needed a chlorinator, and then filters to get the chlorine taste out.
And of course no one drank from the brook again.

Have an errand to run this morning, then hope to be outside a little in the heat of the day.

Good morning.

Temp is 7 and going to a high of 18 °F. Wind N 8 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

I have my work cut out for me today. 11:30 I need to be at the vets' with my cat. She doesn't seem to be all that interested in food, nor iving. Her regular food she hasn't eaten in two weeks. All she wants is Temptations cat treats and not many of them either. She turned her nose up at sardines in oil, although she did drink the oil. She is still grooming herself, but I want to know what is going on with her. She has lost 2 lbs in 2 weeks and that is not natural.

That is about all that I am doing today.

Have a good day all

Thank you Veterans. We wouldn't be here without you.
If my Dad hadn't made it back from the War, I wouldn't be here.
Thanks Dad.
And thanks to Drew, my namesake, who in his early 20's died in 1943 hauling oil in tankers up and down the Eastern Seaboard, always
on the lookout for German submarines. Drew was in the Merchant Marine, I believe he was an oiler in the engine room.
Died of a brain disease, something totally out of left field. Thankfully I've lasted a bit longer...

My Uncle got his own Destroyer after the War, I think he was XO on another one in the South Pacific, got strafed, the whole nine yards.
Would never ever talk about it. My Father was Air Force Intelligence and he for sure never talked about what he did either.
so not a lot of family tales, sometimes talking about it relives some really incredibly bad times, things one would like to forget.

Just watch Saving Private Ryan's D Day footage, I almost can't watch it. The savagery of an experience like that has to stick with you for
the rest of your life. Same thing with Vietnam, likely all wars. I'm sure clearing houses in Iraq was pretty frightening too.
My first wife's Father flew bombers over Germany, those raids where a third of the planes were shot down in a mission.
Talk about frightening...and he didn't talk about them either.
The stuff of nightmares.

Some day maybe we won't need Veterans. We will figure out a way to get along without shooting each other.
Until then, God Bless our Veterans. Thank you for putting it all on the line.
Thank you for protecting all of us and our freedoms.

My Dad was in WW II - the artillery. Had many close calls, but made it back safely. Did not like to talk about it, and I never liked the fact that a lot of people pushed him to do so. He also had 2 brothers and a sister that went, and they all came back safely. God bless them all!
