Step, that is a gorgeous area, as for the spirits of the natives, I wouldn’t be surprised, I have an area on an old overgrown creek that has that feel about it. I’ll post a picture that explains better than I can, I have to scan it first.

This picture was taken as we were nearly done clearing the lot for the house and yard. My late wife took the picture of me standing near an old fence that divides the south end of the property from county reserve land. It was just after sunset. That’s me closest to the camera, about thirty feet to my left is shadow man. Note that it’s not my shadow as it is totally different. That’s only one of several such incidents from there down to the creek. Sorry for poor quality, but it’s an iPhone photo of a 35 mm that late wife took, and for all her admirable qualities, she was not a photographer.

I haven't posted much about it, but this past week was a . . . . well, I'm not sure what I'd call it, but it wasn't good. I've had minor back problems for quite some time, usually worst when I first get up in the morning. Well, this past Tuesday was my first time to ride in an ambulance to the hospital; I couldn't get up. And we had Dish TV people here one day installing their system to replace the Spectrum TV service, then I had a Spectrum technician here changing some things for the computer and telephone. And one day our HVAC folks were here replacing the compressor in the heat and air system.:confused2:

So it was a hectic week, but I think we're doing OK now. I've got an appointment later with what is supposed to be the best back surgeon in the area, although I don't expect to have surgery. We'll see.

But one thing I do want is a really comfortable recliner chair. I know I should have asked before going ahead, but yesterday I ordered this chair:

They advertise in both the AARP Bulletin and the AARP Magazine. Expensive, but supposedly does just about everything except cook your meals and give you a bath. Do any of you have any experience with one of them?

I have one and really like it, my old recliner was one of those over upholstered chairs that look so good but are terrible for your back. My late Father in law came to live with us towards the end of his life and we had 2 lift chairs for him, one in his bedroom and one in the living room, pretty pricey but made the end of his days a little easier. The last month of his life he had to go into an elder care facility and one of his chairs went with him. When he passed, the folks at the elder care facility bought both of them from us and said that they are the best thing ever for old folks with all the typical problems though many couldn't afford them. We were glad they went to good use. I'm sure you will enjoy yours.

Good evening all. 45F to start, clear sky, light breeze. Wind came up this afternoon, clouds increased this afternoon, high temp 75F. Chapel this morning, wife requested no breakfast, bike ride late morning, lunch, then nap . Worked on fire place and wood pile getting ready for cold rain .
Pics, the one with the egret is at the low water bridge, 3/4 mile north, the other is just next hill north of my house. New pic is looking out across the fairway behind house.

Some great autumn pics being posted this year. Big contrast to ours, which so far has been a wet non-event.

Well, the grandchildren managed to survive their stay. We got outside for a short spell in the rain on Saturday and a longer time Sunday morning, watching thousands of starlings taking off from the field right next to the house, do a few aerobatics and then land again. The toddler has really taken to tractors, he found a little red one in the toy cupboard that his elder brother hardly played with and wouldn't let go of it. "Tractor Ted" videos also got his undivided attention Tractor Ted Moovie Time - YouTube

Very neat and compact battery bank David. Must be a tough decision on what tool to get to fill all the extra space

Bird, sorry to hear of your back problem. Chair looks perfect. I really hope you can avoid surgery. I do floor exercises every morning to stretch and loosen and strengthen my back. If I skip them, I can really feel it as the day progresses.

Took wife to breakfast on the way to see son, and then pick up a couple of things at Home Depot. Dropped into the Harley Davidson store...It's been in its new location for a couple of years, and always wanted to see what it was like. So had a spare hour and had a blast talking to the saleslady. She got me to sit on a couple of them, but then I spied the little Harley 12" bikes and told her that was more my speed. I was amazed how much technology they put into the new motorcycles, and the prices. She rode her bike to Sturgis 3 times.

We came home and planted the deodar cedar. Digging out the hole completely filled my FEL bucket.
