Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 4:45AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High 79F. Winds light and variable.

When the man dropped off the shipping container, he cautioned that if the gravel it rested on wasn't flat, it might twist when both ends were open making the doors difficult to close. He was right, and they are. So yesterday I got my biggest floor jack out, dragged it into the gravel, and dug under the ends enough to lift one end at a time. Got some blocks under each end, and got close to level, but not close enough. Today I'll set the laser level up inside the box so I can get some decent measurements to go by, and maybe cut some shims from aluminum plate to use for fine tuning.

Send some of that cool weather, and rain, back out here, Don. The high pressure systems we seem to be "enjoying" don't show any signs of moving on anytime soon.

I am only just a tad nervous about the eye appointment on Dec. 10. I have a designated driver to haul my but* home.
The optometrist will be wanting to put drops in my eyes that will make me blind, (the reason for the DD), for the day. I have been ducking that test for years, saying that I didn't have a DD and I can't afford a $120.oo taxi ride to South River, let alone a return trip.
The Dr. that did my license medical told me that my glasses were failing, 20/20 to 20/30 is good but 20/35 is not. Mine were closer to 20/25. He told me that he would not be so lenient on the next medical. Finally, a Dr. that understands that our world relies on truck drivers. He told me that I look a lot younger than I am. He also told me that I needed to get rid of the gut. I figure one out of two won't be so bad. I am 6'4" and 260 lbs, only about 40 lbs overweight.

I have one of those appointments next Monday. Will get eye’s dilated. But have always been able to make the drive home. Use prescription gasses with a pair of Cocoon full cover sunglasses over the top.

went down to barn and took rear carrier off little Massey, and got no further as rain started.
I got wet, and cold and in I came. Was going to put trailer hitch implement on three point to haul my small utility wagon
which will be filled a number of times with trimmed brush. Going to be a big fire in the burn pit tomorrow.
Rain is stopping now but I'd prefer they show up tomorrow. Why deal with wet wood when you can work with it dry...

Good Morning everyone!!!!!

An overcast 35ºF for this morning's low temp; 39ºF and mostly cloudy presently; and I anticipate a mostly cloudy afternoon with high temps in the low-mid 50ºF's. My local mechanic is booked solid for ~ 2 weeks = Alternate Plan B = a trip to a ProLube shop down in the "Big City" later today and probably a take out pizza on the return trip home. This shop has really treated us well over the years. I have no problems going back to them if the Tundra makes it. It now looks like the Thursday-Friday weather event will be mostly rain changing over to snow around here. The "Big Winners for snow will be northern NE especially NH and ME.

"...I will be trading one type of stress for a different type, but it is good work."- Hawkeye Congratulations and good luck on your new position.

BEF- That stew looks to be good eats. :)

Roy- I am sorry to read about your StepDaughter. I hope that her injuries are minor and good luck

Thomas- From the NWS for NH.

Bill- Good luck with the eye examination.

RNG- Good luck with the leveling project.

RonJH- I love my Cocoons!!! They should be standard issue for the geriatric crowd.;) I go next month.

I hope that everyone is having a decent Tuesday.

My + thoughts and prayers.

Mid 50s and showers, headed to 66 later. Need to make a drugstore run for refills I called in.
I’m trying to decide what I want to cook today, yesterday was prime roast with au jus, cheese potatoes, broccoli and okra.
Got my whole house humidifier cleaned and operational on Sunday, but just got the filter/wick yesterday. They say 45% relative humidity is perfect, but I like it 55%-58% in cool weather. I sleep better.
Have a good day and prayers for all.

What kind of eye test makes you blind, L4N? My eye quack insists in dilating my eyes every year, but an hour or so sitting in my truck afterwards lets them recover enough to drive, especially if I slip one of those dark films the receptionist gives me behind my regular glasses. Yes, like you, I don't have a DD, and the Uber fare to my place would buy a Michelin truck tire. Hope everything works out for you and you don't get taken to the cleaner when you buy the new lenses.
The glasses I am wearing cost me $450.oo three years ago. I insist on hardex lenses, photo grey extra and bifocals. I don't mind paying the extra dough if I can work for another year or five.
The last time I had drops in my eyes was about 60 years ago. :(
The good thing is that I have 2 sets of frames that are in good shape.

42°F and spotty light rain this morning, going up to 53° today.

We have a portable humidifier that we keep downstairs next to the stairs that seems to do a decent job of keeping the humidity up during furnace months. One of the casters on the base broke last Winter, so I need to figure a way to repair that ... one of those "unimportant" items that's been lurking on the honey-do list for months. Now, it's becoming less unimportant. It sits in front of the door to the storage area under the stairs, where The Wife keeps much of her bulk sewing/quilting materials, and needs to be able to roll it away to access that space. Winter is her quilting time, when she can't get outside to do stuff.

Best wished for the new position, Hawkeye.

70°F and no rain

Off to Hilo town this morning. Buy some truck bed liner paint, quick meeting with my battery installer, installation scheduled for Friday. Annual eye exam. The dilation leaves me pretty ineffective rest of the day.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I had not used the humidifier for 8 years, when we built the house the building materials leach enough moisture so you don’t need any more. By last year though I noticed it was dryer in the house, especially on really cold nights.
