Current tempurature in Hartford CT is about 40...high about 60 today.
I'm staying at the Marriott in Farmingtom...you could put the entire town of Bethel within this complex...huge!

Training starts today..two days of training, one day of testing

Wife texted me last night...her daughter in LA got hit by a car. The daughter called from the ambulance, so I guess (hope) it's not too serious

Poured first cup of coffee. 35° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 43° with mix of sun and clouds. Did not get much done yesterday. Spent time get end of year Dr appoints arranged. Grocery shopping this morning. Then pick up some leaves. Enough for today.

Buckeye, Supper time looks good. You are getting more done as you recover than I am getting done.

Randy, great site for your wife. Glad you went with others. I will not be going back to Betty's grave site for awhile without someone with me.

Thomas, glad retirement is sinking in. Not sure I ever looked at it that way. But it takes awhile to figure out how to enjoy all them Saturdays. :thumbsup:

Not many leaves to pick up here, wind is reluctant to let them land. What a difference a day makes, hard to believe only a few hours ago the sky was blue and the hedgerows were looking at their autumn best. Today it is gloomy, the wind is stripping the treetops and was lashing my face with the leaves when I moved the sheep over this morning.



Not that it was all tranquil yesterday, I was guilty of disturbing the peace by hammering staples in fence posts. I had on a pair of ear defenders to try and preserve what is left of my hearing and so didn't detect the wing beat of five swans approaching from behind in a tight V formation until they flew just a few feet above my head. Outside of bad dreams, it has been a long time since I've had such a fright !

Hawkeye, hope the old saying of a change is as good as rest holds true for your new role.

one of 'em is coming out tomorrow to do some load testing, the first company to offer to do that.

At last, a company that sounds like it knows how and is prepared to things properly :thumbsup:

Been some chatter old man winter stopping by late Thursday early Friday 3-6 inches of snow.
Plans for today...Pickup has about 2 hour doctor appointment this morning,store outside setting benches,cover the grill,recolate burn barrel than take it from there.
4 Does having breakfast under apple trees and he comes 4Jake brothers.

Good morning.
34 and going to 37°F. Wind WNW 13 mph. 60 % chance of precipitation.

I am only just a tad nervous about the eye appointment on Dec. 10. I have a designated driver to haul my but* home.
The optometrist will be wanting to put drops in my eyes that will make me blind, (the reason for the DD), for the day. I have been ducking that test for years, saying that I didn't have a DD and I can't afford a $120.oo taxi ride to South River, let alone a return trip.
The Dr. that did my license medical told me that my glasses were failing, 20/20 to 20/30 is good but 20/35 is not. Mine were closer to 20/25. He told me that he would not be so lenient on the next medical. Finally, a Dr. that understands that our world relies on truck drivers. He told me that I look a lot younger than I am. He also told me that I needed to get rid of the gut. I figure one out of two won't be so bad. I am 6'4" and 260 lbs, only about 40 lbs overweight.

No snow to plow today, just the water run first thing, then putter around outside.

Good morning! 61˚F heading to the mid 70s. Cool front heading in tonight to bring us more enjoyable temps for tomorrow. Time to get the ice chest down for refrigerator change out.

What kind of eye test makes you blind, L4N? My eye quack insists in dilating my eyes every year, but an hour or so sitting in my truck afterwards lets them recover enough to drive, especially if I slip one of those dark films the receptionist gives me behind my regular glasses. Yes, like you, I don't have a DD, and the Uber fare to my place would buy a Michelin truck tire. Hope everything works out for you and you don't get taken to the cleaner when you buy the new lenses.

My optometrist does the new way without having to dilate and has been for the last 10 years. Might be time to check around. The equipment is expensive and older optometrist may be reluctant to change.

I think there was a extra charge but it wasn't that much plus the pic can be added to your file for comparison each year.
