Gasoline polution

Need some help quick, gotta go to a hearing and fight the new superstation they want to build upstream from me.
What is the name of that crap they put in the Oxygenated gasoline a few years ago that is now poluting aquifers?

Of course, no one has come up with anything that MTBE does to anyone. Ethanol, on the other hand, has been contributing to entertaining behavior for millenia. My vote's with Pitbull.

Yep, it's considered "super wet" or something like that, cant be filtered out by any means so far.

One of the villages next to where I live has been battling MTBE for several months now. The Federal Government has just stepped in to help. It seems that a gasoline tank has been leaking for an unknown amount of time. The MTBE polluted the local water supply. Plus, fumes from ground water has seeped into some basements. I tried doing a google search to get the news reports on it, but, my server is slow tonight. Maybe you will have better luck; check under 'Pascoag (RI) Water District - MTBE'. My home is not affected yet! But, I'm more than 15 miles away, so, I doubt it will "find" me. Good luck on your challenge...

Situation Update

Thanks for the help guys, MTBE landed like a rock in the middle of a farm pond! I had a few minutes before the hearing to read the Station's plan, and all it calls for is a holding pond, with a sand filter to eliminate heavy metals from spills.
The town engineer had never heard of MTBE, but got real scared real fast. The head of planning wasn't happy when I pointed out he would make everyone dependant on the aquifer a Test Dummy if the plan was approved.
The station owner now officially hates my guts, can't slide what he said to me past the censor.
Whole deal is now tabled for another month while more costly studying is done.

Forgot to mention

One of the Board members asked what MTBE is, and when it was put into gasoline. I explained that it is an ether compound gasoline manufacturers choose to use rather than Fine Iowa Corn alcohol.
Always try to put a plug in for the farmers!
