Gas cans - really

The issue with galvanized and diesel is that the zinc reacts with sulfur in the diesel and gets into the fuel. Then the zinc is deposited inside the engine. Over time it can cause big problems.

It's only an issue with diesel. Not gasoline. I would not store diesel in a galvanized can under any circumstances.

I will have to call Just Rite and ask them why they would make a yellow can for diesel. You would think they would know about this issue you mentioned.

Justrite cans are well made I have 4 and i love them yellow for diesel red for gas and green for mixed oil and gas 2 cyl high doller but lasts a lifetime and the easy pour spout is a god send.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a fuel caddy. I have this one with a hand crank pump:

Amazon.com : Todd Fuel Caddy, 28-Gallon : Boating Equipment : Sports & Outdoors

No lifting and no slopping fuel all over yourself or the tractor. To re-fill, I lay it horizontally on a pallet and place it in my pickup. Fill it at the station, unload with forks (still on the pallet), and just stand it up and roll it around the shop as needed. Holds close to 30 gallons which is good for a couple months or more for me. Haven't seen condensation issues or staleness problems.

Bought mine second hand for a couple hundred bucks. Looks like you would have 4-500 in it with a nice pump. That's a lot, but I hated lifting those 5-gallon cans.

Those fuel caddy units get very diverse feedback with some loving them and some hating them. I know a couple people who use them to fill pontoon boats so they can avoid paying marina prices.

Hey, most important is that fuel should only be in YELLOW containers as this is a gov't standard of some sort.
Jail time could result.
My fuel somehow does not know about this regulation and I'm scared of going to jail.(tractors don't do jail)
Sort of like only tinted stove oil is safe in a tractor, ( but my tractor is stupid as it runs just fine).

I don't know where all this comes from. I was just looking for some decent cans. Thanks to a number of folks here I found some, and thanks to you guys.

For that price, I can lift 5 gallon cans for a long, long time. :D

Also check your local regulations, in my area the limit is 6gal for portable gas containers apparently.
