Garden time...Oh boy!

I picked my first squash last night. It was about 6" long and 2-1/2" in diameter. Many, many more are growing.

How many plants? Too darn many I guarantee! Too many peppers too. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

It has been 6 weeks since we planted our garden. It seems like 6 months when you are waiting on plants to grow and produce, but actually the growth is pretty phenominal for just 6 weeks.

It has been very hot and starting to get dry again with no rain in sight for the near future. This weekend, we gave everything a good watering using the soaker hoses and direct watering. I also applied more insecticide because the plants with dust show very few signs of being chomped, while the ones without insecticide are chomped a lot. Of all things, our onions are being eaten by cankerworms. We picked at least a dozen off the small onions.

Some of the corn actually has a small tassle down inbetween the leaves. By next weekend, it should be visible at the top of the stalk. I have stalks with as many as 12 leaves. The fully grown plant should have about 20 leaves.

Our peas and beans are starting to take off. lots of plants are starting to put on buds.

My banana peppers are really starting to put on peppers. I have a couple of small bell peppers too. In another week, I expect to be covered in peppers.
