Front Loader Boom

Has anyone came up with a way to keep the dirt and mud from getting packed up inside the loader booms? I know about digging it out. I'm afraid that I will forget to clean and water get trapped in them and winter is a coming.

Lee,

if I understand you correctly, I picture that your loader arms are open on the ends. That is that the bottom (the bucket pivot) and the top (the arm pivot) are both open to the atmosphere. Your problem is that the bottom keeps getting filled with dirt and you are afraid that water entering form the top will be trapped and freeze inside.

If that is the situation then I would suggest that you simply close the openings. weld a plate over the offending cavities and have peace that dirt can no longer intrude where it is not welcome. The top should also be covered so that water does not enter at all. i believe that is what I would do. it seems like a poor idea to leave openings like that in the first place.

Yes they are open on both ends. We have a old back hoe and both ends are closed up on both ends and the last 2ft of the boom got water in them somehow and are round now, almost to the point of cracking. That is why I'm asking. I did get the water out of the backhoe by drilling holes and rewelding. I have been checking and digging it out on both of my tractors, It's a job sometimes.
I'm going to wait a few days and see if someone comes up with something before I weld them. The L4240 is new and didn't want to start welding on it right off the bat. I think I might go ahead and do it on my B7800.

My loaders have factory plates welded on with holes in them. The wasps think they are just the best place for nesting. I don't agree but they seem to win.
