Funny Top Flail Issues

I'm having issues with debris getting wrapped around the drum and getting wedged in the corners. This causes the drum to seize up and become hard to spin which means burning up belts. It looks like I need to take the drum off to clean it completely.The manuals and diagrams I've found online aren't super helpful. Does anyone know the easiest way to remove the it? Does the pulley need to be removed? Most importantly, does anyone have any recommendations for avoiding this in the first place?

Which compact tractor do you have?

Please do not remove the flail mower rotor and bearings, it is not required, EVER.

You need to change how you are mowing and your mowing speed.

This is why you are burning up belts and jamming the flail mower rotor with brush.

Which funny top model do you have 80, 93 106, 132 or 158?

The first question I have is how fast are you trying to mow???

The second question is what height is your mower set at? Is it set at the lowest position
to provide you with a 10 centimeter height of cut?

You need to use a very thin long flat screwdriver to remove all the chaff that is stuck
inside the rotor or stiff mechanics wire with a helper to spin the driven pulley for you.

You need to lower the mower on thick hardwood blocks in order to safely work under it
to clear the chaff from the rotor/bearing flange gap on both sides.


I am trying to help you, not prevent you from using your beautiful flail mower.

I have the 158 model mounted on a Kioti CK3520SEH.

I'm just creeping along almost as slow as I can go since I'm trying to clear an overgrown field with poor visibility. Tons of 6' golden rod.

I've got the cut height at about 13 centimeters. But to be honest I'm not sure where I should have it set for such high brush.
