Fractured LS 3039 Frame

I believe you on the starter price Bentley, but I can’t help wondering if that ridiculous price is a typo on the LS price list.

Who in their right mind would buy one when it’s so easy to find a workaround.

Glad you got your tractor back, that was a real horror story.

Yes, just as I have stated several times in this thread.

You obviously don't believe me, I called 3 different dealers. I encourage you to call one up and ask them yourself.

No, I DO believe you, maybe I worded it wrong. Sorry.

Digging up an old thread here, as I just stumbled on it.

Bentley, I am going to hazard a guess, that your frame was already cracked some before your ordeal in the mud. I noticed mine cracking long before it became an issue. As stated, it was a known issue, and there was a retrofit kit that dealers were supposed to install. My dealer was shocked when I called with my problem, as he thought it had already been done to mine. What happens, is the flat plate that is welded flat to the bottom of the frame rails just in front of the loader mount, creates a stress crack at the welds. (improper loader support) the retrofit kit spreads the loader force down the frame more to bridge that weld area to alleviate the stress on the weld joint.

Sadly, i feel that had you contacted an LS dealer direct, they may have covered it. It sounds like you were just out of your 5 year warranty, and this being a known issue, with retrofit that dealers were supposed to manage.... they should have at least. I know mine got a new radiator, fan, etc, because it started rubbing before they were able to get it in to fix it.

As for the starter price... like someone else mentioned, i bet its a mis-print in the book!

I will state it again. This frame broke because this 39hp tractor was pulled out of 3 feet of mud at a bad angle by a 150hp JD tractor. Period. Maybe there are LS frame issues, but this had nothing to do with a bad frame, this had to do with a bad, rushed extraction, plain and simple. I don't like to see a Manufacture get blamed for something that was not there fault.

Having said that, my starter went bad 2 weeks after this was fixed. I called to find out how much OEM was, they said $1567. I seriously laughed and ask them again what the price was. They said that is a correct price for the part. Got one on Amazon new for $137. For this reason alone I would never buy an LS tractor again. And I love mine.
