Fractured LS 3039 Frame

I'm still wondering if there was a previous, undetected crack that allowed this to happen. Maybe the towing only compounded it rather than causing it solely.

Since we'll never know for sure and given the other reports, I still suggest contacting LS. They may offer something at least.

My buddy is picking it up today, he said he was afraid that it would be months on the part! I think he was referring to the frame the radiator and battery sit on, what is broken. He was going to have his certified welder look at it, stated it would probably reduce the cost of the repair even more. I think he was hesitant as he then said I would have to sign a liability waiver...shoot, who cares! I hope he can, as I need to be on the tractor this time of year!

Will try and post pictures when I get my baby back!

ARE there welders "certified" in repairing dubious tractor frames? Here, welder are certified in certain areas and materials. A certified pipe line welder likely couldn't fix a tractor frame any better than I could. Well, maybe a little better but the question would be, would it be good enough?

No doubt in my mind that it can be repaired. Might even add some bracing or additional strength if space allows. I'd definitely go this route.

Be sure to add the extra plates they use to add support now. See the long thread below about LS sometimes supplying those plates even when the tractors were out of warranty. This is a well know and widespread issue by LS.

About 4 years ago I remember watching that YouTube video detailing the frame upgrade/repair by that independent shop . Shortly after the video was taken down!

I remember it because I was going to buy the 3039 but, the TBN members on this site convinced me to go to the next size up (R4041).
So glad I listened!

Latest update is the tractor is gone, I was in the house and did not hear a peep. My 2nd job is security officer. Tim called me this afternoon after looking it over. Said he will be able to get the "frame" part and it will be less then he thought, so will not go the weld route, which I trust him, but I still feel more comfortable with new frame. Said the tie rod is bent, but he believes he can straighten it. On to the support for the drawbar is cracked so it will have to be replaced!

We getting closer to getting it done. I just hope I think twice around mud next time.

I’m glad the repairs are going to be less money than originally thought. Having someone you trust to fix it makes a big difference because you know it’s repaired right and you don’t have to worry about it. Hopefully the new frame will have the update for the additional plates to beef it up. Once he gets all the parts, it shouldn’t take him too long and you will be back to normal.
