ford sle 6640 gear problems

hi.. i have a ford 6640 sle, the problem im having is to do with the gear changing.. the gears are confused,, if its in 4th gear it means its in 1st gear, and when its on 1st gear it means in in 4th,, as going down the gears 2nd and 3rd or ok.. also same problem with 5th till 8th gear,, can anyone help please?????////

G'day and welcome the first thing to do is to check and clean all your earthing points and battery terminals also check charging rate as poor voltage can cause probs with these things.
