So as you predicted, the valve made no improvement whatsoever. At this point I really think it is a bad piston seal, but this is way above my head and I'm planning to take it to the New Holland dealer to get it repaired. Any idea what thats going to set me back?:(

Replacing lift piston seal is not a very difficult job. Can't damage anything else by inspection. Need to put the piston head back if you need to start and load up the tractor to dealer. Load up the tractor on a trailer, try to fix. If not successful then you just drive it to the dealer.

Update: My mechanic friend broke into the lift earlier in the week and we found the piston seal is completely GONE! This might explain the tiny black fragments I've been seeing in the filter. I ordered a new seal and other seals to replace while we are in there while should be here today and we are putting them on in the morning. Will post again soon!

Well. . .the seal is replaced, but it will still will not lift under a load.:confused:

Could you post some pics of your hyd system. I am thinking that either somthing is plumbed wrong or your position control valve is messed up.Put the lever for the TPH in the up position and curl the bucket all the way back and hold it there and see if the lift goes up then . Your hyd pump fluid and filter are fine since your loader works fine. The problem is after the fluid goes into the position control valve.

Where does the loader get it's hyd supply from. Is there a diverter valve about midway between the pump and position control valve. Or do hoses run from the position control valve back to the loader. If it has a diverter valve is it set correctly.

Hooked on HP, thanks for your interest, I'll snap a pick tomorrow after work and let you have a look! And I'll try it with the bucket curled and see what happens too.

Okay, you knew for a fact that the seal was busted so no loss there and it was something you should have done anyway. How about the main pressure relief for the pump. It is on the discharge of the pump piping before the lift spool valve. they can be opened for inspection. if the spring is broken or valve does not seat well might be a cause for major pressure loss before getting to any hyd implement.

Got pics but gotta figure out how to load them. And I do not see a diverter valve (assuming its an external device). Curling the bucket did not make a difference. At this point we are thinking the hydraulic oil is too thin and that its possible there is nothing else wrong mechanically. Right now it has New Holland 134G hydraulic oil. We are going to try a thicker oil and new filter tomorrow.

Time for a lesson in oil viscosity. Can anyone refer me to a chart that will tell me where 134G falls in comparison to other oils? Also, what the letters all mean and some info on oil interactions (how it behaves when hot/cold). I know AW means anti-wear and that 134G is a multi-purpose oil.

Also, I need to mention that with the new piston seal, the TPH arms stay in the raised position and do not seap down anymore (without a load of course), whereas before they would seap down from highest position to the ground within 10 minutes of shutting off the engine.

And JC, I cannot find the main pressure relief for the pump. Would that be a screw, or perhaps some sort of plate?

Lastly, thanks to everyone for your help on this, we'll eventually get this figured out!!
