A bucket with no scratches would be nearly as bad as a construction worker with a new tool pouch. We would throw it on the ground, rub dirt on it, stomp on it, fill it full of rocks and beat on it, what ever it took to break it in. You don't want to look like the new guy with a shiny new tool pouch.... or bucket.

Only tip - if you are trying to lift with the bucket, be careful about wrapping a chain around the middle. You have enough lift capacity to bend the top edge of the bucket. (Don't ask how I know.)

Weld a 2x2x1/4 angle to top of the balde & you will not bend the top edge. While you are at it, weld a chain hook at both ends & a 2" receiver tube in the middle (with a chian hook welded to the top of it). No you really can rig & lift things!
