All--

My 80 acres is in the Ozarks in SW Missouri. We get snow, but not great amounts. However, my "driveway" (logging road leading to the property) is a little over a mile and a half long through the forest. I have never seen it with snow, yet. (We've only owned it for about a year.)

Thank you for the recommendations!

Yes it will work and make you a better operator! I have aprox 1/4 mile drive and use FEL and a back blade on the long part of drive I plow then at the end I clean it up with the Front end loader and can pile it up ridiculously high I do agree with every one else get a base or you'll be raking gravel also I bought a piece of conduit pipe cut a 3/4 inch slot in it and put on my rear blade to help not dig into gravel and sod wires real well then after you get a base you can take it off if you desire so for long parts of a drive or road a rear blade or one that attaches to FEL would work also ok hope this helps is a blast just wish my tractor had a cab in winter some day!

It depends on the snow.

I have a 7.5' SSQA plow on my loader. Works good for up to a foot, maybe foot & a half of snow, occasionally a bit more of light snow here in Colorado. However 10" of heavy wet snow will stop me dead & require the blower.

Personally ive never used my bucket. Got a 3pt back blade with the tractor & ended up building my SSQA plow pretty quickly (then sold the 3pt plow). If you are doing much clearing, especially of roads or driveways, a plow is an order of magnitude faster than a bucket. The snow just curls to the side rather than filling the bucket & needing to be dumped every few feet.

I use a rear blade to clear snow. Drop it to the ground then raise it up about 1 inch. Angle it to the right and I'm done in no time. And I've got about 1300 feet of gravel and hills.

FEL works for deep snows, but a rear blade is much better for about 6" and less. Rear blades are really cheap and light weight, e.g. easy to get on.

The problem with using a loader bucket to remove snow on a gravel / dirt road isn't the snow, it's the wear on the cutting edge of the bucket and most are welded on so replacement isn't that easy.

If it snows, I stay home, I'm retired.

Anyone want to buy a Lucknow rear mount 72" 2 stage blower? I don't use it anymore, no need to.

Push and Pull

FEL with snow edge attached (no scraping on the driveway) and a back blade on the back with a poly urethane blade (instead of the steal so no scratching the driveway).

All done :)

Don't want to buy it, but if your blower has the older hydraulic chute rotation with the cable and half moon setup I could really use a picture of it. I have the Lucknow kit, but I am not certain of the correct position of the tab that gets welded to the half moon shaft. If it's the same as mine, you will understand my goofy terminology :)

I sure do and it has the hydraulic chute rotator. I'll have to go look at it and report back...

In deep wet snow, the blower uses every bit of my M9000
