Newbie question: Is an FEL appropriate for snow (1 foot or less) removal over a dirt/rock road?

Thanks.

Yeah, as VulcanCowboy said. Works, but there's easier out there.

In order of cost (assuming FEL is already included on tractor):
FEL
Edge Tamers - Edge Tamer | R2 Manufacturing
Rear Scrape Blade
Box Blade
Front Scrape Blade
Rear Snow Blower
Front Snow Blower

This was NOT ordered by ease, some of that will be left to your discretion.

Depends on your location and size of cleared area. Pushing snow makes banks which makes subsequent drifting back in worse .
A snowblower gets rid of the snow.

I've used my 7' wide bucket once. I was not impressed. My atv with 6' blade does a better job.

1. Blower
2. Front blade
3.FEL
4.Back blade

For number of years I attach 7.5 push blade to FEL done good job, just make sure you push snow banks back.

Mostly it depends on location and annual snow events.
Where there is a lot of events you really want to get rid of it.
AKA snow blower, otherwise you get a drive that gets narrower as events add up.
Also the higher the berms the deeper the drifts get.
A plow is faster but a blower is done and over with.

Best of all worlds is plow up front for minor events and blower for the serous dumpings.

Must add with a gravel road you will want to create a frozen base B4 scraping or blowing otherwise you will be raking gravel every spring.
I like to drive and compact a nice base B4 scraping or blowing.

I've done my drive and landing (about 200' worth) and all gravel with a fel and rear scraper blade. I added sides to the bucket and cut the time dramatically. Long drives would be better served with a plow and what my rear blade acts like. I have done a 1/2 mile drive once for a 15" dump with the rear scraper . It was a pain. For a deeper dump, one is better served with the fel first and to clean up with the rear blade.

Thanks Spoon for posting this list I'm going to grab some of those Edge Tamers. I have a gravel driveway, and need to keep a good size path open to get hay to the barn over the winter. It always amazes me the wealth of knowledge in these threads (mind explosion)
