Is it better to mount the hydraulic from the front of that or the bottom?

Don't understand your question.

Do you mean the hydraulic control valve?

Yea I realize now that was kinda vague.

I'm taking about the curl cylinder. I was going to use a single one mounted in the center of the cross bar support. So the question is on that curl cylinder would it be better to mount the cylinder from the front face of the support so it basically runs at 90deg on that support and sits on it or on the bottom so that it is straight out from it.

That will affect the curl and dump angles. So you just have to play with the geometry of that to achieve whatever angle you want. It's a somewhat of a time consuming job. Took a while on mine to figure out.

This is how Kubota did it:

Any hydraulic cylinder has more power pushing out than drawing in.
That is due to the shaft restricting volume.

In some cases manufacturers prefer to oversize to compensate while I think others pass on the damage risks onto the user.
(An extended shaft is more liable to damage than a cylinder body.)

Looks good, but you have one major flaw... that ~3" strap metal you have going from just under the frame mount for the cylinder is going to be under compression while lifting, strap metal does NOT hold under compression, it needs to be angle at the least but ideally square or round...

I agree with this. Could use some narrow tubing like 1x2in which would be stronger then the flat bar that you have

I could weld an angle iron on the side maybe. The ends are bent to make it work already. Plus no room to add thicker material. But an angle iron piece between the upright and bottom put on to make a triangle should work.
