That is a good looking M. The more I read I think I might be staying with the 6 volt. It's not like I can't change it later if I want to. Thanks to all of you this has been a great help. I'm sure I'll have more questions before I'm done with the M then it's on to the H that's waiting.

I have a place in town that can re wire my generator to a 12 volt to keep the stock look. And with the battery enclosed in the box it's not going to show. The 8 volt your talking about, I have seen a few where they are still wired at 6 but using an 8 volt battery. People are also telling me that just cranking it periodically, a 6 volt battery will go bad. Ever heard that?

i'd go stealth 12v via genny/vreg change vs the horrible though of 8v.

alts are ok.. but H and M don't have a hole lot of space under the hood. I've seen H conversions done woth 10si alts.. and few with hitachi or delco cs130 small form factor alts.

IMHO.. it it is running and working on 6v? maintain it properly and it will continue to do so.
