familiar with J.C. Higgins model 60 12guage

Are you familiar with the J.C. Higgins Model 60 12 guage? Do you have one? Have you used one? I have a couple questions.

I'll see if I can discribe this without pictures. RE: the tube feed spring. On the end of the spring is a zink or aluminum cup. One end of this cup will face the shotshell the other to the spring. Question is: does the spring go against the raised surface or the cup.

The cup, it's that way on every shotgun I've ever taken apart and that's quite a few. If the cup went against the shell you could find the last round in the tube stuck in the cup.

Thanks, I'll open it up an see if it is in that way. When I opened it for cleaning I'm pretty sure it was in the other way around.
when I purchased it years ago[second hand] I fired it in the back here, every 3 to 5 shots the ejecting shell would get caught part way out. The shells I used were all reloads not sure what was the problem was.

Bob, Just read your post saying you have one. Do you have the model 60?

Have you ever had a empty shell get caught on the way out?

Can't remember the model but there was a recall on some of the old jc higgens that was a bolt action. The action would blow open in your face. Don't remember much about it other than we sent in the bolts on the two we had and they give us $150 for each one.
