Buying Advice Exploring my options

Hey Guys
Im looking at a 1810d with a loader thats in pretty good shape 3 cylinder diesel 21.5 horse and pretty good looking to boot. what do you think this is worth in the northwest washington area, anybody got a clue? Anyone know where i can pick one up around here so i am not limited to 1 choice.

...And so far as I know those two are the only straight shooters in the West. Both do their own importing of decent tractors from Japan. You pay a little more; you get a real Yanmar like Yanmar intended and not some frankentractor cobbled together out of mismatched parts.

There are a couple more dealers in the Northwest who get mentioned here from time to time. Usually in the context of tractors run to death in Vietnam then resurrected there from cannibalized parts before being shipped over here. Some of these turn out great, some not so great, roll the dice and see.

Do you watch Craigslist?

Here's a custom Google search that I run occasionally:

Yanmar on Craigslist, nationwide, newly listed in past 24 hours, up to $8,000, -marine

Today this returned 43 posts with several in the Northwest. You can modify the Advanced Search options to show past week, month, etc to see more responses. Sometimes Google misses some Craigslist posts with this '24 hour' option but they appear later in the 'past week' listing.

check Used Yanmar tractors, New Mahindra tractors, New Branson Tractors from Ernie's Imports Inc and look at his inventory on hand. He may be a little out of the way but he is a real straight shooter. I'm in the Oly area and bought my 1820D from him several years ago. He is located south of Portland.

Check out Craigslist (Seattle)......there's a guy in Hoquiam that sells imported yanmars. I went out to his place....has over 125 tractors....all sizes and conditions. He's a talker and salesman but seemed OK. Aslo.......check out Gorilla tractor in Puyallup. He's also on Craigslist (Seattle). I was having some troubles with my 186D......Jarod was very helpful....even called me back to check on how things were going. Never bought a thing from him....but seemed really helpful and honest. He sells yanmars and other tractors. Good luck.....

Once again thanks guys. I talked to Ray in Hoquiam and he seems like a good guy. Thats a 10 hr round trip plus the talking and salesman stuff but so far he is my best bet it sounds like. Now if i could just get more than one day off from work i could do that trip down there, i would have to bring my family with me. There is a guy about 40 miles away from me that buys from Ray then sells at about 50% over what he paid, but thats the game we have to play sometimes.

Forgot to mention......if you visit Ray......he WILL negotiate. He'll drop $500 off tractor with very little persuasion.....I am sure you could even get a little more off. I am sure he will reduce price of his FELs as well if you're interested. Have fun.....his place is kinda neat to walk around with all those tractors and parts.
