Massey-Ferguson 220-4
Have a Massey Ferguson 220-4, 2 cyl diesel, that has a hole in the bottom side of the exhaust manifold. The hole is larger than my thumb and allows the exhaust to blow on the oil filter. So far have not been able to find a replacement online. Can I have a piece of metal welded over the hole or have a manifold made from pipe?

If anyone knows of an exhaust manifold I can get, please let me know.

Your manifold is more than likely cast iron (not sure about lately, but most in the olden days were.....If it is, you will probably need to have it brazed rather than try to weld it if it is cast. Either way (find a replacement, or have this one worked on) you're gonna have to take it off the engine. Suggest you research the welding shops in the area (you need to take it with you when you go) while looking for a replacement. Also start looking for a replacement gasket (goes without saying, I know....) good luck with the manifold, a good welder should be able to do a pretty decent job of fixing it. BobG in VA

Try J-B Weld, I patched an exhaust manifold on an old Oliver several years ago and it held in place as long as I owned the unit.

Good luck on the patch.. most of the times once you get a hole, the metal around the hole is real thin and contaminated.. thus making it a bad weld candidate. Brazing -MAY- work. Muffler putty and a band clamp may keep the exhaust off your oil fitler for a few hours...

I'd call wengers of PA and start finding a used manifold.

I have seen pipe manifolds.. I imagine a NOS or used one will be cheaper than having a pipe manifold made up.

I also used JB Weld on a pencil sized hole in an exhaust manifold. The repair lasted as long as I owned the tractor.

Joe is a great fellow to deal with too. At least on the items I've bought, but I was able to pick up from him.
