I bought my first grapple, an 84" HD dual lid Blue Diamond, for our NH TL100A back in 2008 and then discovered EA and bought a 73" EA Wicked Grapple for utility tractors in 2016. Each grapple has somewhat specific uses.

The BD is primarily used for pushing out dead trees and the EA is for tree limbs and brush. The BD jaw opening is about 34" ... perfect for picking up dead trees. The EA opens to almost 43" which works well for piles of brush or trimmed tree limbs.

BTW .... USAFSS 1967-1973!

Battle of the titans. Cool!

Just got my first grapple, I thought that was all I would ever need.

It's been discussed for over a year. It's not gonna change. You knew this before, yet you did it anyway, then complain incessantly over and over again. You said your peace several times. It's their choice to do business the way they want to. Customers are free to make suggestions to businesses. But following them around on the forums, and repeating your dissatisfaction over, and over, and over again is akin to a temper tantrum. Now's the time to take the high road and let it go.

It seems to me that if EA had reached out over the phone after the first complaint and explained, apologized, compensated, given a discount on the next purchase or whatever we would not have to read about the complaint multiple times nor we we have to read the incessant cackling of the happy customers like a bunch of dang guinea hens. Some people like the sound, like this guy.

“have to read the incessant cackling of the happy customers like a bunch of dang guinea hens. “

You need to get help with whatever it is that bothers you about a business having a majority satisfied customers?

Sane folks ..... would have lodged their complaint and moved on.

This is all really very strange to me.
I have bought 2 EA items and have been totally satisfied with them.
Seems like most here have not even a clue how this all began.
My compliant was that "free shipping" is not directly to the buyer, but rather to a place that is actually the choice of the shipper.
Before ordering I very carefully read through all the EA advertising text, so I absolutely understood the shipping situation, when I placed each of my orders!

Somewhat buried in the EA advertising text it is mentioned that "free shipping" is not to your residence. I knew that when I ordered!
The "free shipping" is boldly highlighted advertising however, and it is deceptive, because the item is not actually shipped to the buyer's address, though most reasonable persons would expect it to be.

If I order from Amazon, or an E-Bay seller, or Titan, or Blain's Farm & Fleet, Rural King, Northern Tool, etc. and they offer an item with "free shipping", the item comes to my residence,...... not to a freight terminal some 80 miles away.

The undeserved anger and hate expressed here, (and apparently endorsed by EA) has left a very bad taste in my mouth.
In the Spring I will be in the market for a single lid 72" grapple.
As suggested by the "fan boys".....this "little girl" will now shop elsewhere.

Kinda too bad..... EA does make really nice stuff, and I do like to share product information with friends .....but I would be castigated by the EA cult members here on TBN if I were to mention a 1" bad weld on a grapple.
In my 79 years, I have found that life is best, by steering clear of nasty people, and those who associate with them.

Ok, after going back and doing more reading of posts, I do want to apologize to Fried1765. Apparently when I started reading the posts, I didn't go back enough pages to see what really started this derail. Cat_driver made the original post, and I must have missed it. (got lost somewhere in the profit/public disclosure chat I tried to skip/ignore) I have read a lot of Fried's post, and for the most part they are all positive, helpful reviews of EA products. He even mentions how he was glad he paid extra to get them. I thought he posted something and got it started, and I was wrong.

Fried 1765, Please accept my apology.

TD

Thanks for clarifying. Fried is part of the EA Family and I've noticed, most fondly, him recommending our deluxe scrape blade. The support from you guys is strongly appreciated and we will continue to support you. Travis

Speaking of grapples.... used mine to good effect yesterday to pull crape myrtles, and holly trees off a brush pile they'd been sitting in since last June/July in order to feed them through a 90hp wood chipper. The coworker I was working with ended up with ~10yds of woods chips that I spread as a first layer of mulch (per his request). The back of the box blade worked well for leveling out the chips once placed on the beds around the house (where all the trees had been).

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures as it was raining most of the day - and relatively hard at times. Though not hard enough that I recall seeing any animals going by in pairs (of course they could have snuck by as I was pretty focused on what I was doing). All joking aside, the wind was more of a nuisance -- though we managed to (mostly) deal with that by pointing the chipper's feed chute toward the ground. So it ended up being a highly productive day in no small part because the grapple helped place the heavier tree trunks on the chipper's feed table (some of the larger trees had 8"-10" trunks) ...and help get them started into the chipper's feed system.

Overall it was a productive and good day ..... though in my opinion it's kind of hard to have a bad day when you're getting to spend time on a tractor, in some mud, turning trees (and branches) into woodchips. :D

Just on a side note Travis.

I bought a 54 inch long tine grapple single lid for my L4740 with factory kubota third function and one thing I can say is do not make your hydraulic hoses any shorter. with the lid closed and at full dump one of my hoses looked like it was stretching. I had to adjust the fitting to give it some slack.

It is fine now after a minor adjustment but the LXX40 series has the fitting for the 3rd function on the side of the tube where as he Lxx60 series seems to have the fittings more in the center from some pics I have seen.

It took some adjusting over the years to get where the sweet spot is for *most* tractors, but we will make them shorter or longer by request.
I'm glad yours worked out, man!

Well, my dad is kind enough to be heading over to the terminal to pick up my grapple while I'm working. Still waiting for my 3rd function valve to come in, but every step is getting me a little closer to actually getting to use it.

I'm glad the Wicked Grapple is there, man!! :cool2:

The custom 3rd function kits we offer ship within 3 days. ;) :stirthepot:
Travis

If I hadn't already paid for the other one, I would be ordering it. When I placed my order with my dealer, he said it would be a week, they could install it when they do my 50 hour service. Now, it is back ordered until at least Nov. 11. Yet, the grapple has arrived! Dad has it in his truck and after work we will head to the farm to get it stored in the barn until the 3rd function kit arrives. Thanks for all the help with getting the order placed.

I couldn't wait for a Third Function Kit. I simply plugged in to the rear remotes and Wah-La, it works! To broke to be fancy.

You bet! I figured a set of Forks would be more useful in the long run and that a Third Function Kit could wait a bit.

Do you guys make your Tractor Loader 3rd Function Hydraulic Valve Kit for a 2006 MF1540?

I am confident the Custom 3rd Function Kit is offered for it, but those are listed by loader model number.
Let me know yours and I'll double check. You're welcome to call me to discuss. 828-464-1200.
