Hey fellas,

Any problem using these forks on my 5740? I like the lighter weight, but the manual says only up to 40hp.

Bradco Compact Tractor Loader Pallet Forks, Model Universal Skid Steer Quick Attach

Thanks..

Those would be just fine, as long as you use them sensibly and don't exceed the rated lift capacity of 2,300 pounds. If you want to be rougher, we haven't had a single issue with our HD pallet forks.
All of our forks will ship free to a commercial business or supporting freight terminal within 1,000 miles of Newton, NC.

PRF,

I bought the Bradco Compact set from EA. My tractor is 50hp. But my FEL capacity is 2000lbs. So I figured they were just about right for me. They work great. I recommend a light coat of grease on the rails and on the fork pins. They're heavy duty enough. It's not like I'm going to be ramming them into bank vaults.

I was torn between these and the heavier duty forks for my l5460 and went with these because I decided I wanted a lightweight fork with 48 inch tines and this seemed the best choice.

Still a little torn if maybe I should have gone with a heavier duty incase I get rambuncious moving logs or something......

My owners manual suggested a fork with a 3000lb capacity if I recall. I'll just be conservative with them.

Thanks all.. Sent you a message Ted. I would only lift pallets now and then.. I have a grapple for the rough stuff :)

What size grapple will work on a 4520 J.D. tractor with a 400x loader?

I was wondering if you have heard of any way to mount a smaller mid mount mower on a LS J2030H it comes with a factory set up for a 60" deck and a I have a customer who would like a 50 to 54 inch deck.

If LS doesn't offer a smaller mid mount mower, I don't think it would be possible to put a smaller one on the tractor. It would be best to ask that question in the LS tractor section of TBN.
Sorry I can't help.

Hi Ted,
I'm going to be ordering a post hole digger for my 3520 (deere), and wanted to confirm the 6900 HD was the correct size.

Also, I'm in NC like you, and plan to use this to make planting trees and shrubs easier. We have decent soil on the property, and I'm wondering if I should go with a 12" auger to be more useful on shrubs and small trees, or the 18". I figure I have to soften the sides no matter what given our clay content in the piedmont, and 3 x 12" holds in a triangle could make a decent hold for up to a 1.5" tree.

What do you think? 12" or 18"

Thanks,
Todd

Todd, yes the ETA 6900 HD post hole digger is a good match for your tractor. Rather than trying to join multiple holes, I would just use an 18". Our augers have replaceable corkscrew points and cutting teeth to help them dig.
If you have a large operation, a bucket mounted auger will enable you to apply down pressure.

It will likely drill/dig under 200 holes in the next 2-3 years. I don't think we need down pressure :)
Thanks,
Todd

It is quite possible that the wife in this tragic story was trying to put down pressure on the digger. I am a fan of hydraulic diggers, no PTO shaft. Be safe whatever you do
Post Hole Digger Death
Thanks.
Nobody will go near it when it is on. We'll operate it from the seat.

Ted,
Given some people have tried to apply down pressure from behind the tractor, have you considered welding a pipe fitting to that flat plate at the end of the boom, where the gear box hangs down. Then people could screw in an 8' length of pipe and apply down pressure from far away from the auger. I am confident we won't need that on our property.
Todd
Never mind, just read the post on the auger possibly grabbing fence stuff below ground level and pulling a person in. scary stuff!
