Every extra pound of unneeded steel is that much less you can lift. When you have a skid steer or large tractor it's not a big deal. But when your tractor is a CUT weight matters a lot.
using a smaller amount of a higher grade of steel might be more economical than torching all those holes...

Let EA come up with their own products. If you can do better, start your own........its a free market. I like ea's products, too bad I'm too far away to be a customer.

I can't speak for EA but the last time I priced out higher grade steel it got pricy quickly. EA could have done the math and realized this way turned out to be less expensive, lighter, and or stronger than jumping up to the next higher strength steel. I guess it would be wise to ask EA what grade of steel they use.

We do use a high quality Grade 80 steel which takes a smaller amount that results in a lighter weight. The holes result in an even lighter weight.

Like I said, cheap is not us. We don't try to come up with ways to design a product to be the least expensive, we want to offer you the highest quality product at a reasonable price.
We can do that because we have no dealers, distributors, on the road salesmen, big flashy trucks on the road, printed advertisement etc. that is factored into the price with other "high end" products.

If you do a side-by-side comparison with one of our attachments and a comparable priced big name attachment, I guarantee that ours will beat it BY FAR.
If you have a taste for quality, do the same with a cheap product vs. ETA and notice the difference.

There's a place in the market for all kinds.

Any chance you guys will produce a single top 54" or 60" grapple? How about the assemble yourself kits?

The 50" will be the only single lid offering. I think the single lid is a disadvantage for the most part on anything larger because off balanced loads wouldn't get grabbed tightly.
The rake style C shaped grapple is on the drawing board now and should be our next offering. It will be very similar to the Bradco grapple rake, but with several improvements.:D

The DIY kits was idea that is on hold. It will take a lot of time, before and after the sale, for the kits to be possible and we're not ready to tackle it in the near future.

What are your thoughts on selling a few "individual" pieces like the top lid parts or perhaps the bottom tines, etc? Nothing assembled of course. That way if someone wanted to build their own grapple they could purchase the harder to make parts from EA and get other pieces locally. I could be wrong but if the dimensions are stored in the cutting machine memory it shouldn't be too much of a problem to program a part to be cut for a customer whether it's 1 tine or 10 tines? Shipping would be cheaper too!

Also I commend EA for your commitment to American made quality! Stanley

What is the diffrence between a regular grapple and rake style? Will the cylinders be behind the unit like the Bradco?

/ Everything Attachments Wicked Grapple Build #332
The rake style is made more for pushing and raking than the L shaped like our Wicked Grapple. With that rake style, you loose the cradling ability that the L shaped gives you.
The L style has been way more popular and that's why we waited to design the rake style last.
The cylinders will probably be in the same location. I'll post pics/start a new thread when it's finished.

Not in comparing opening dimension. EA is pretty much bottom of the barrel with it's meager 30". Is there anyone less capable than EA in that regard?

Before our Wicked Grapple, the Construction Attachments Compact Grapple was our top seller for years. The opening width has never been an issue or concern with either and that's why Ted didn't make ours open any wider.
The Wicked Grapple has been a very hot seller and not a single complaint about the opening width from an owner.
If you watched the video showing the testing of our new Single Lid Wicked Grapple, you'd see that opening width doesn't hurt it in the least.
Different people have different wants.....that's why every product on the market isn't the same.

I can't see why anyone would need a compact grapple to open any wider than this:

I said this in another thread, the larger the opening is , means that more than likely the lower tines will be longer which will reduce your breakout force.

The 30" opening has worked fine for me. I think it is a good size for a COMPACT tractor. If it was bigger people would be trying to lift stuff their tractor was not capable of.

I just think that EA has really put some serious thought into this grapple, driven by years of experience and comparison. There is a reason they are selling well in the compact market, if you don't like them, don't buy them, this is the free enterprise system.

EA is not among the serious grapple manufacturers in my opinion. I would not buy one.

Then why do other manufacturers make them open wider than EA? Even your largest models only open to 30". I seem to have touched a sore spot with EA? Very defensive.

i just didnt want to say that... the looks, plus the patriottism are important for a certain group of buyers: As said its a free market, so if EA has found a way to get a premium price for their products from private individuals, they are just good businessmen. I work in the commercial HD end of their trade, but as i am not an American i decided to back out from the discussion: As a Dutchman i am not here to debate patriotism among American buyers ;)

You allways get what you pay for... Its up to you to decide which values you want to pay for... ;)
