Erratic Front End Loader

Have a CK27HST with the KL 130 Loader. Since day one I've noticed that it operates more like a spring board. I notice this more so when it has a load. Trying to maintain a smooth & complete control going up or going down with the joystick is touchy/erratic. When bringing the load down, it may drop a few inches suddenly before I can get it under control.

I try to control this by backing off the joystick lever. That usually results with the loader stopping suddenly and I get another spring board effect with a loader full. Hope this feeble attempt to explain the problem helps. Any suggestions from our Forum would be very much appreciated. Thank you very much! KK

Can you check your hydralic fluid level? Sounds like air is in there somewhere, but that's just a guess.

The system should be continually venting I'd not expect air? Never know though

Tough to diagnose on words could simply be fine if feathering down heavy loads?

I'd expect it unusual that valve problem going up and down?

If it is a piston issue would think it would be obe died problem

UPDATE: The dealer best described this as normal, in that the joystick control is more sensitive and unforgiving when you push the stick farther forward whether you're going up or down. The higher the rpms the more sensitive it becomes. Flow valves can be installed in the system to help smooth out the control. Albeit that it will operate slower but under control. That sounds promising if that's the only trade off? Hope this helps?? Thank you for your input, your patience & understanding, concerning this matter. KK

I have the same loader and haven't had that experience. I do sometimes drop it quickly a little bit on purpose to "shake" the load down so I don't lose it all over the place during transport. But, I find the loader easy to control, fast or slow, just as I want it. Mine is not at all jerky, but rather smooth and easily controlled. I can move slow and smooth, fast and smooth, or fast and a little jerky. I do have to coax it to be jerky. Unless it's carrying a really heavy load, I have to work at it to get it bounce.

How is your float operation working?

I also have the same loader but mine works just as Gittyup mentioned about his. Maybe you just need to get used to it just like I did and I really had to get use to my bh controls. Every brand and type of machine is a little different. I like the speed of my fel and wouldn't want to slow it down. The controls should be smooth and allow you to have full control. Maybe the cables from the joystick to the valve block are hanging up a little and need lubricated. Also, my cables have a little play in them so when the joystick is in it's neutral position, I can slightly move it in all directions without any valve movement and the fel doesn't move. Just a thought before you slow them down.

I would not recommend a flow valve, that will heat the hydraulic fluid up way to quickly, do to the fact that your will be restricting the hydraulic fluid flow.
I would recommend you backing down the RPM's until you get more experience with the loader.

Are you sure you aren't pushing it all the way forward into the float position? If it's heavy and high and you do this it will drop pretty fast. Y\

You should be able to feather the control to go fast/slow at will. Also, do you have loaded tires or a heavy counter weight on the back? If not, you might be lifting the rear.

All suggestions were well taken. Had some time today to do some loader work and go back and concentrate on the basics as most of you directed. Things went along much better. I'm still not convinced that I may have been the the problem all along? How could that be? Surly there should be somebody or something I can blame it on? End of story & thank you all for your input.
