Engine Warm up?

I never work a diesel cold.

I wait until I see the temp gauge start to creep up, at this point I think it's good to go.

I start the tractor idle for 3 to 5 minutes then raise rpm up to 1200 to 1300 then I wait till the oil filter is warm to the touch ....
