A Rotella 15W40 should be fine? Average temps usually don't get lower than the teens and typically an average high in the high 70's low 80's

Teens is not particularly cold, so 15w40 would be fine. Lots of operators use 15w40 in climates similar to that.
That said, my preference is a lower winter rating in a similar mid atlantic climate.

I think t6 is a full synthetic 15w40 so cold temps should not make much difference.

Im in Ohio and I run 5-40 T6 in everything (Tractors) that starts in the winter and 15-40 T6 in everything that only runs in the summer (ZTR).

I think you would be hard pressed to find a better oil than T6 for the money and availability. I think a lot of guys use it because it is great oil and you can almost buy it anywhere oil is sold, almost.

Any of the weights listed should be fine, the important part is to be sure that whatever you use meets or exceeds the specified standard (e.g., CK). I use what the manufacturer recommends (spec and weight), especially during the warranty period, it's one less issue should you need to make a warranty claim. I believe that CJ is the latest standard and it meets the CK specification. I've used Rotella for years in various diesel engines, it is usually readily available, there are however other good oils to choose from.

Would 15W40 weight t6 be fine?
given your location, T6 5/40 would be my choice. have ever you changed 15/40 in 40 degree weather before? i'd go w/the lower viscosity rating on T6. you'll be better off on those 20F degree morning starts w/T6 5/40

I'll probably do that in the future. It's mostly land clearing right now and in the winter it'll be moving logs for milling. Looks like after my 250 hr oil change I only need to change the oil yearly although i suspect it is probably wide to change it after a certain number of hours too. I guess what I'm saying is the shouldn't be a needed to change it in the winter. I'll eventually have a heated garage too
