Electric excavators?

Anyone ever used one? I seem them starting to pop up. Like the Chinese mini-excavators a few years ago, there are now no-name electric mini's available for short money.

My general experience with rechargeable tools is there's a lot less to go wrong than with internal combustion engines, really the only thing that can go wrong is the battery going flat.

Thoughts?

Are you asking about pure electric or electric over hydraulic?

A few years ago I watched an electric over hydraulic skid steer operate where drive motors were electric and loader was hydraulic. limiting factor was run time since hydraulics for loader was the same.

Target market for that was use in building same as electric fork lift.

At the time this skid steer was built I was told that linear actuators were being developed to replace hydraulic for loader but not sure if that design is complete yet.

No experience with excavator though.
