I tried it out today. Had about 2 yards of dirt in it and it didn't sound like it was working hard but it did take 14 seconds longer to lift vs empty.

Looks like it works good. You could also add a viborator made from a starter motor and an offset weight.

It's a '68 Scout in need of a new home.

The material I had was very dry and dumped about 7 degrees from the limit of the lift. I am not sure how much, if any, installing the steel floor will do to help things out but I could see a problem with wet soil. Dr.Dave do you have one of the vibrators, and or photos?

Yes I have one, I will try to get a picture tomarrow and post it. They make a polly liner for dump truck beds, it would be lighter than steel, and should be cheaper.

'68 Eh? Those were nice trucks.

You could try a sheet of UHMW plastic in the bottom. Perhaps that's what Dave is talking about. Available in various thicknesses, cuts and drills with standard wood tools.
