So real quick. Am I right in assuming that the guy in the video is doing a bad weld at 1445? Just trying to learn.

Before he stood the plate vertical, he chipped the slag off the weld. But I did not see him wire brush the weld.
Or are you talking about the extra wide weave he is doing at 1445?

A lot of places will hold you to the rule of, 3 times the diameter of the rod for weave width. For SMAW, (stick welding).
I don't think there are any rules like that for wire feed welding. Personally I would not go as wide as he did! Can you imagine how wide the weave will be by the time he fills that V-groove?:shocked: If I were welding that V-groove, I would have a 3-pass cap.

Around the 17:05 mark he talking about half width passes because by rules you are only allowed to go 'so' wide

I've run the 71m, like it but started getting a lot of worm tracks, never did figure out the problem. Good clean material prep. Structurally good but didn't like it for cosmetics.
This was .045 on a MM 251.

Will say one thing, you better have a good gun or else it'll meltdown pretty quick!
