Sixdogs, lookiing at your harrow, looks heavy duty and a nice build. Curious what is all that metal for up top by the hitch. Looks like it weighs enough to make the front dig in deeper....

What do you guys think?

It's my rotating hitch framework. The hitch is off a MF toolbar.
It couldn't dig in because I didn't drop the unit all the way to the full contact with the ground. The rotating hitch did not work for me.

I have thought about building a combination tool for seeding (poor mans version) with a drop seeder up front mounted ahead of the harrow and adding rollers at the rear. I could use the roller with hydraulic raise and lower which would transfer some weight to the harrow for the opening and smoothing process roller raised up. Then the second pass dropping seed, harrowing over the seed and roller down to press the dirt down.
What do you guys think?

My father and I have been kicking this idea around, very similar as you describe. Would like to see if anyone tries a build.

I am thinking of crusing around a few used equipment yards in west Texas to see what I can find for this. It has been many years since I have done much looking for equipment so I am curious what is out there anyway. Use to have a large place in Plainview TX IIRC, want to check that out.

Wished I was closer, would like to see some that stuff out there.Thats prolly a good 600 miles from me. I do have an old planter of some sort, the box is in good shape, part of the drive chain is there, think ground wheel is gone. Has to have been sitting for atleast 30 yrs now. I'll get some pics this weekend and post up to if anyone recognizes it..might be worth trying to save.

The drag works! No kick up, pulls good. I am going to have to modify the top link connection. Had to use a short piece of chain, as my top link is not long enough. Was able lift the drag and lower it. I am going to raise the point where the chain connects to the draw bar. Think i am going to use cable and turnbuckles instead of chain.
