The "rockshaft" (e.g. 3 pt) does not seem to have a float position on my 4010. Think it's the same on 2210s.

Directions in the manual when lowering the 3 pt are to run the rockshaft control down to where you want it and then return to the center position. This seems to lock the 3 pt into place, as my LX4 skids dig holes in the ground when the rear tires go into a small hole. What happens if I leave the rockshaft at the point at which I want the 3 pt positioned. Does this give me float, or will it do damage?j

For bringing the 3 pt up, the directions say to bring the rockshaft up and just leave it. When the 3 pt raises, the rockshaft lever returns to the center postion. Wonder why it doesn't do this when lowering it?

Your rockshaft should float when the control is in the middle position. Remove your mower and position the rockshaft arms somewhere in the middle range. You should be able to grab the draft arm by hand and raise it easily. If not, then you have a problem. The skids on your mower may gouge the ground if it is soft. The mower is heavy and you are carrying the weight on the skids when they bottom out. Do you have the mower leveled properly front to back?
