dozer security?

I worked for a construction compagnie, and all the keys of their heavy equipment was on the oil dipstick. The mentality is there is no reason to not check the oil, the keys are not in the switch so it's a bit safer and there is little chance to lose them. To this day I know it is still that way.

Unless you bring your own fuel, it’ll only go so far. 😂 Might be lojacked too

Many pieces of heavy equipment have the same key, so keys really aren't anti-theft the way most car keys are;

Still, I don't leave keys in my tractor ignition out of concern what some kid might do accidentally. I remember starting an old IH as a kid that I had no business starting. Fortunately, nobody got hurt.

All the best, Peter

You should have resisted the urge to check it out. The hidden trail cam nearby now has pics of you, your truck/license plate and your pup... :eek:

A lot of planes at you're local airport don't have locks, those that do are probably 50/50 locked. But if someone catches you taking pictures inside an airplane like you did on that dozer you'd probably get beat, you'd get some really dirty looks if you even get close. Don't know why people want to get into things that don't belong to them just because they can. Would you want a stranger walking around on your property? In your barn? Around your house?

Having had equipment that was left on job sites I was always amazed at how people thought it was ok to enter them without permission.
In most areas this is a crime. You could possibly be charged with breaking and entering or trespass.

Arly, they left it for you so you can use it to clear trails. If they didn’t want someone poking around they should have locked it.

Just remember that the dozer will bury a body quickly and the truck would not take much more time. Once you get away from pavement the police don't patrol.

They actually had it parked on the trail. :oops: I'd guess most logging machines around here are unlocked and unsecured in every way.
