I just purchased a 2009 ct235 with 1070 hours on it. When at lower engine rpm the tractor will just get dead pedal instead of stall out the engine when hitting inclines or trailer loading. The tires don't spin and engine seems to bog but not stall. Is this normal or do I have something worn(hydraulic pump or drive motors)? Coming from geared tractors this seems weird. If I use full rpm this gets better I can spin tires in low range 4wd. Do you always need full rpm for using this tractor? Does this tractor have an anti stall feature or horse power limiter? Thanks, Scott

You must be referring to the hydrostatic transmission relief valve.. In HI this valve will open and relieve the transmission pressure if you push against an immovable object and not spin the tires. Remember HI range is ONLY for transport of the tractor on flat ground not for "working". In MED, depending on how the tractor is loaded (tires and 3pt weights) the tires may or may not all spin before the relief valve opens. I don't believe the relief valve would ever open in LO range and not spin all the tires. Do you always need to use full RPM? no, you do not, but somewhere around 1500 to 1800 RPM will keep the pressure up in the hydro and the hydraulics enough to do some useful work. Of course for maximum power you will need to go to higher RPM's. If you are doing something very precision and want maximum control of the hydraulics for very precise movements, you will want to throttle down.. Just use common sense as where to operate the throttle.

The range selector is just gears behind the hydrostatic transmission. The taller the gear the less torque you will deliver to the wheels and the more speed the wheels will turn. The lower the gear the more torque and less speed. No difference than any straight gear system. You would not push into a pile of materiel with a straight gear machine in your highest gear would you? The only difference is the hydro machine has a relief valve to reduce the strain on the system of errors made by the operator.

Thanks for the quick response. Everything you said seems right on. I am running Ag tires with wheel weights and loader on front in SOFT grassy ground with lots or traction. With that much traction I would surely think the relief valve would open in medium or surely high ranges. It's a great platform and very user friendly tractor. Great job by kioti on this one. Does anyone know why the partnership ended and bobcat exited the compact tractor market? Thanks k0ua, what year and how many hours on your Kioti 35? Are there any common problems on these?

I got the DK35se in April 2012. It has 250 hours on it now. I have heard of problems with the glow plug relay contacts. I haven't had any problems with it so far. I did have the cruise module replaced under warranty, a certain percentage of them would allow a start in a gear range when the temperature was very low. I noticed it below 20 degrees it would start in gear (should only start in Neutral). I also replaced the upper heater hose under warranty with apparently and internal leak in the inner lining of the hose. It would seep fluid out the end of the hose's cords. Really weird problem, Not much volume of fluid leak, just a seep from the cords of the hose.

From what I understand the partnership with Bobcat was dissolved at Bobcats request, as many of their dealers did not want to deal with the consumer level of customer that was interested in the compact tractor market. Bobcat wanted to focus on their existing construction customer base. I hear of many instances of the Bobcat dealers just not interested in selling compact tractors and were forced to.

I would have to think that Doosan, after purchasing Bobcat from Ingersal-Rand (that coincidentally launched Kubota into the skid steer market) have come to the inevitable conclusion that reselling painted tractors is not nearly as profitable as concentrating their efforts on a brand that is historically synonymous with being THE skid steer.

I think they ran scared when the economy went south. I bet they wish they had it back now.

I have yet to see the first bota skid steer, although there are 50 (I know I exaggerate) other manufactures of skid steers out there.
But what are most of them called? Skid steers or bobcats?

OK, I haven't seen one of them either....
