Does a 1500D have diff lock?

If it does I cant see where to engage it? Can anyone shed some light on this?

There should be a pedal that you would depress with your right heel. It attaches to a long lever that attaches to a shaft that runs across the transmission.

Mine does. Lever is down by the right foot.

My 1500D has no such pedal / lever or cross shaft. It is an early 1500D. I think it is like number 2500 made. There is no spot on the rear end for diff lock. When I had the tranny in the rebuild process, there were parts of it that differed greatly from the used 1500 transmission I bought.

I wouldnt care to bet that these things went through production changes as it went along .

Not quite sure it may be a 1500 tranny? I remember reading that MJ said that his has serial # 400 something on it so that is several hundred before yours and the tranny is what has the serial # on it so we know that were talking about trannies here and not just tractor peices that could be from who knows when in the production.

I don't know much about the 1500 but I do know that on the 1510 the diff lock shaft enters the rear case in a recessed area that tends to get filled with dirt and trash. If it enters in a similar manner on your tractor and your diff lock shaft were sheared off it might be hard to spot. Mike (MJPetersen) posted a picture in this thread a while back that shows pretty well where the shaft enters the case on a 1510.

Both ends of the shaft are exposed to an incredible amount of crud as the cross shaft travels clear through the tranny.

I found a pic of a 1700 which is very similar to the 1500 to let you see exactly where it exits the tranny.
