After a lot of research, I made the decision to purchase an MR-145 (49") CCM tiller. It was shipped via lift-gate service and they dropped it off at the end of my driveway on a Friday just as I requested. Due to a busy weekend spent mostly in the office, I didn't get it unpacked, off the pallet and hauled up to the house until late on Sunday. It was fun watching the neighbors walking by and staring at it, trying to figure out what it was as it came wrapped in plastic. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I finally got the PTO shaft cut down, checked out all the lubricant levels (shipped all topped off), and hooked it up to my 2 year old BX-2200. First project was tilling up complete hardpan left over from last year's construction of a new detached garage. You know the stuff: contractor's skidsteer packed it down, everyone and his brother walking around it during construction, backfilled again with a skidsteer. Almost like concrete.

That CCM tiller had absolutely no problem with it. First pass about 2" or so. Second and third passes, it dug down to the shaft and tilled up finely pulverized black dirt (garage is on a former alfalfa field), with the very heavy rear gate smoothing it level. Then I went next door and tilled up the neighbor's garden for him. Beautiful seed bed.

Although the quality, heft, and good overall construction of the CCM tiller makes me doubt I'll ever need another one, I'd buy a second in a second from Carter and Carter. Their pre-sale information is great, they've obviously got a great product, and the price was great, too. I have no connection with Carter and Carter other than being a recent satisfied customer.

My only complaint is that the tiller orange needs just a tad more red in it to match the BX!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now, I need to put the quick hitch on my Father's Day list.

Webhund,
Thanks for the purchase, We hope you enjoy your tiller for a long time.
It is a shame that some people have closed minds about a country or a race of people. I remember in the 1960's how people laughed at Japanese cars and they spoke of their low quality, who is laughing now. Every country out there has various levels of quality in their MFG. Some retailers, when they can not compete against a product, just try to trash it at every chance. No matter how hard these false propaganda merchants try the truth will prevail. We try to offer the best products for the best price but there are other good choices out there beside what we sell.

Can you tell us exactly what wholegoods "First Choice" is buying from Turkey? I purchase from "First Choice" and would like to stay far away from any Turkish made wholegood products !--I am OK with seats and hitch pins etc. from Turkey, to a degree?--Ken Sweet

I have had no contact with Pieter since last year. Last year, he was in Turkey for a week. It was nice to meet such a funny man and I think he was happy to be in, as he called, "beautiful country" in Turkey. Maybe, he was here for a touristic visit as I was not clear why he was here. You are right - indeed, (as far as I know) he bought nothing here, at least when I was with him and his friend for 2 days to stir them around a city. Knowing him since 5 years ago from a seat business, I thought he was in Turkey again for some business. But later after we said bye to each other last year, I heard he also went to some touristic towns too. So, you are probably right about that he isn't buying anything from Turkey. If I were in his position, I'd do the same; Would stay away from the products, especially popular products of last year such as hay rakes. Maybe, unintentionally, I helped him by keeping him away from those rakes. Although he too probably likes the games like many people, probably his most favorite game is soccer only and soccer stadium fields are rather clean greens which need his fine finishing mowers.

Nomad, Do you happen to know why Turkey Manufacturers use "non standard" drivelines on the PTO powered equipment , like roto tillers, sickle mowers etc? The U-Joints, Yokes and Slide Tubes seem to be unique to Turkey. I have had some of those implements in our store and have found the most unusual driveline configurations. They are not Metric or SAE standard configurations like you would see from Italy, France or any the USA made equipment. --Ken Sweet

Howse, a USA manufacturer, uses non-standard cross bearings. Much of the Chinese implements have non standard profile tubing. Many of the Italian fertilizer MFG use non-standard square metric tubing. All the CCM tillers & drum mowers have EC approved PTO's that meet a higher standard than the US SAE standards. As usual Mr. Sweet is uniformed and uses the tactics of innuendo and false propaganda to market his products.

All I know is, I took a Turkey Power shaft from a Super 65 Sickle mower (that I purchased from you in a lot of 6) with me to 2 Tractor Supply "TSC" and all Major dealers in the area and no parts man had ever seen anythinkg like it??--They look to be built strong, However,As a dealer, I need some degree of local sourcing and availability for common wear items, like Bearing CrossKits, Yokes and male and female Driveline tubes, Plastic Shields, Protective plastic bell ends, Quick Disconnect pins, etc. I ordered these backup type parts from you along with another large parts over a year ago and have not received anything yet?---Ken Sweet

Ken,
You know that those 6 mowers you purchased were prototypes from a MFG we do not use and it was a one shot deal. It was informed to you that design would not be used and that MFG designs would not be supported. You were given a very low price because of this situation. Since Sweet Tractors was the importer of record for those mowers Sweet Tractors is responsible for sourcing the parts of those mowers. It is unfortunate that you neglected to inform your customers that these mowers were prototypes. The cutterbar parts are available because it is a "Busatis Cutterbar". Three years ago we decided to purchase and assemble here in the USA with another updated design with EC approved PTO's. CCM sells and so does Agri-Supply sell complete PTO's for sickle bar mowers for $45.00.

IS IT JUST ME or is anyone else simply sick of the childish sniping that constantly goes back and forth between SWEETS and CCI? As I see it, none of it is constructive and very little of it is informative.

I know I wouldn't buy products from a company who makes attacks on their competitors. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm not going to mention which ones in particular, but there's a couple companies on TBN that I will never buy from, and a couple that I have bought from in the past that I will continue to buy from because of their great service (and no public sniping).
