I am sure both are excellent dealers. I would also consider Sweet Tractor Sales, they are bit closer to you and I highly recommend them http://www.sweettractors.com/

For those of you who have ordered equipment from one of these two companies, I have a different question for you:

Do these companies deliver equipment to your door?

If so, does the truck driver take the equipment off the truck for you, or is it one of these deals where the company promises delivery but does not offload the freight?

(Got stuck a year ago with a surplus military generator I bought, 1100 pounds worth of generator mind you, and they delivered all right -- but the truck driver was not allowed to offload the generator from the truck. Boy, what problems that caused!!!)

Also, is shipping a separate fee?

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Delivery companies charge extra to deliver to a residence and they also charge extra for a lift gate delivery. If you require either, it is better to notify the shipper in advance than to expect the driver to accommodate your circumstances when they arrive unprepared because your situation isn't what they expect to find in the normal course of events. I usually back my dump truck up to their truck and just slide the item from their truck onto mine and then take it off with my loader. If you don't have the ability to handle the item, then you should make arrangements in advance. Some companies will charge a second delivery charge if you can't get it off and they have to come back.

When I got a box scraper from CCM I had them deliver it to the loading dock of one of my clients. I then loaded it onto my pickup and unloaded it at home using the FEL. You can usually find someone in your town that has a shipping dock that will accept your shipment, maybe for a few bucks.

Lift gate service to residential homes is usually an additional freight charge although I think Sweet Tractors offers this service as a matter of normal business.

Make sure you make the shipper aware of your delivery requirements.

When I bought my tiller from CCM last year freight was a separate charge which I paid (to CCM) at the time of purchase. We arranged for delivery to my business, where I have a loading dock, because this was cheaper. The day before scheduled delivery the freight company called to confirm. They offered to deliver to my home instead of my business for the same cost. They sent a lift gate peddle truck and left the tiller on a pallet in front of my garage. Couldn't have been simpler or more convenient.

We have FREE lift gate service to 75% of the USA, lower 48. The standard residential charge is $30 additional for this carrier but it does vary with other carriers.

So, all this talking about delivery choices has me ready to ask another question. At this time I don't have a tractor, just a pile of cash that the wife is loathe to let me use on what she considers the biggest, most extravagant "Tool" I've ever asked for. I know that once I do get a tractor (assuming I do /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) she isn't going to be too keen for me to start buying attachments. Now some attachments I obviously wouldn't want to buy until I have the tractor due to "matching them size and power wise (i.e. boxblade, rotary cutter) but others I have been thinking of picking up now. Items like PHD and subsoiler etc.

After that lengthy lead in, here comes the question. Has anyone else done this or thought about doing this? My biggest cause for pause has been that it seems like you need a FEL just to move some of the items from off a truck or wherever they happen to have been dropped. Short of brute strength I have no way to move large implements. Am I jumping the gun? Biting off more than I can chew? Obsessed /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Curious.

When I ordered my tiller from Sweet Tractors it was shipped to where I ask (my day job) and on a truck with a lift gate.
He lowered the gate right onto my trailer, two little pushes and we (the truck driver and myself) were done. I snugged it with a strap for the 7 mile trip home....

Usually you can get a good deal on anything you buy with your tractor. So I wouldn't buy in advance. If you wanted to unload something from a trailer without the tractor, an engine hoist would work... just back the trailer where you want it, then pull it off with the hoist and drop it down. Theoretically you could move it while on the hoist but unless you have nice concrete floors that probably wouldn't work.

To me that sounds like buying baby clothes before you even know if you are pregnant and before you know if it is going to be a boy or a girl. Wait till you have the tractor model pinned down in your mind before you go shopping, or even better wait till it is in the garage. I have seen all too often where people purchase things in advance of needing them and then they never use them. E Bay is full of products because of this. It is a lot easier to store cash than it is to store an implement and cash doesn't get rusty or go out of style. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
