Disappearing Amazon orders?

Have not had THAT problem YET!
Just received an order that I placed 35 days ago though.
I assume that I am being punished, because I refuse to subscribe to their "Prime" service.
So be it!
I only buy from Amazon when they have the absolute lowest price, and that is often not the case.

You are right on about being punished. I’ve learned to hate Amazon just like most the rest of the companies I do business with. They can take you money in pico seconds but just try to get someone to pay attention after the sale!

5 months I’ve been begging them for my refund and to please refund the return postage they forced me to pay. Id call them ****** but, I don’t think it’s malicious. It’s simply another case of the American work ethic, let someone else do it, talk to the hand!

I’ve heard about the stellar Amazon customer service, not in my case. I’ve tried everything, calls, web pages, A.I., e mails, 3rd party customer service reps, Smoke signals, it is Seattle you know! Last week I hand wrote a letter, with all the spelling errors, and sent it to their corporate address. Came back yesterday, return to sender.

We have absolutely no recourse, they got this thing sewed up, it’s like dealing with the govt.

I order my new personalized tag today, if it’s available. We get 8 letters in NC!

ORWELIAN

Man, the only thing George had wrong was the year and, it's not the government that will oppress you, it’s friggin Apple! And we, like bunch of sheep, swallow it because....it’s just so convenient.

Just wait till you try to buy an airplane ticket and they won’t let you because your friggin I Cloud is not up to snuff.

You should get an email almost immediately after placing an order confirming it that shows the order number.

I had not thought to check the emails. On your suggestion I went back and sifted through, I have no emails for the purchases that never went through. I guess this will be a good enough barometer for future use. Place order, hold breath and cross fingers while staring at inbox, wait for confirmation. Seems redundant since I DO get the normal confirmation screen in my browser after the purchase, but if redundancy is the only way to ensure success, then redundancy it shall be. And I guess it beats the heck out of checking my orders every day. Thanks for the suggestion!

How are you paying? My sister experienced the exact same thing and finally realized she was sometimes selecting her credit card she had on file, but it had expired. Other times she was selecting a different card or maybe PayPal ( I forget which) and those orders were fine. Once she updated her account settings with new card info, everything went back to normal.
I've never had an issue with Amazon orders, until my current order. Placed it over 1 week ago. Shipped next day and scheduled for delivery 3 day later. Showed status as "Departed Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item". That status hasn't changed in 7 days. Amazon note says "Sorry for the delay. If you don't receive your shipment today, request a refund tomorrow". It sounds like the Amazon shipping partner (AKA Amazon) lost the package in route to USPS.

I have a few different cards saved there. Personal debit, debit for my small business, corporate credit card for my day job. All are valid and not expired. I've had the ghost orders on all 3 cards.

I figured this would turn into an Amazon bashing thread and I'm ok with that, but I would like to get a good sampling of feedback about the original question first.

Had a weird Amazon order situation occur in April of this year, ordered item in early March from Seattle vendor, and vender said order shipped by UPS. I tracked it to LA and no more tracking updates. Amazon had no info and neither did my UPS app.

Covid hit and everything shut down. Eight weeks after placing order, still no tracking update so cancelled the order and Amazon gave full refund. A week after that UPS made surprise delivery to the house. Driver was extremely apologetic and claimed my item was on a UPS truck stolen and then abandoned in LA on the streets for nearly two months. Truck was recovered with full shipment. UPS said sorry for the delay. Called Amazon, and they said keep the item and refund. Sadly the vendor is no longer in business.....possibly due to Seattle riots.

I have been a Prime Member for ten years;never much of a problem with anything with them.I ordered one item that took six weeks but that was my mistake using that particular vendor(shipped direct from China).Refunds have been prompt and never a problem.
Since Covid we have been ordering even more.

Did you receive an order confirmation or shipping notice on those ghosted orders?

No problems here...

Our Amazon orders delivery is starting to return to pre-Covid days. It was bad for a while, stuff showing in stock and two day delivery would show up three weeks later or longer. You would email and the standard response was it is COVID's fault.

Ive never had these problems, been Prime for over 10 years....I did get a box of pens, erasers, notepads, and several other trinkets. Apparently its common proactive for you to get free stuff through Amazon not having ordered them.

It keeps the sellers ratings up from what Ive been told.

Some of my co workers recently ordered gaming chairs that were listed by a seller on Amazon as 10 dollars, but they were in fact 240 dollars each. They have been shipped as of today so Im anxious to see if the seller actually owned up to the goof or sent them something entirely different :) The error they made in price has been changed :(

As for the orders disappearing-check the sellers ratings and never order from them again if its common for them. Also dont be afraid to rate the seller yourself.
