I recently bought a 4635 Gehl skid loader and discovered that the engine timing is with a belt. Anyone have experience with changing the timing belt? I've viewed turotials on line that make it seem pretty easy, with the right tools, pins.

Its not bad, key is to keep everything from moving any till the belt is on and tensioned. I did my VW diesel Jetta years ago, wasnt bad and that was in a front wheel drive car. With better access it would have been even easier. Just use a high quality belt and not the cheapest you can find. Timing belts is one place I do not skimp on the part or part quality. Mike

Done that 2X on my '03 Honda Odyssey 3.5l v-6. Takes longer to expose the belt than it does to change it and it drives the water pump also so I change that while I'm in there. Has 225,000 miles on it. Look for factory timing marks and highlight them or make your own...I'd be surprised if it lacks factory marks, arrows, etc..
