Well I got my first two dents onmy hood last night. I got two scratches that went to the metal. Any ideas on how to paint it so the scratches don't rust?

Pick up primer and paint.
Sand and smooth edges.
Tape off area.
Spray with primer.
Wet sand around the edges.
Spray with top paint.

OR

Get some touch up paint from the Dealer and dap it on.

Main thing is get some paint on it as soon as possible and do not leave it in primer, primer WILL rust through.

On the dents, if they are not creased, take a hair dryer to them one at at time. Get the metal good and hot then take a can of compressed air, like you would use to blow out your keyboard, hold it upside down and spray it on the dent. It should have liquid CO2 coming out. Coat it thoroughly. The cold should cause the metal to shrink and pop the dent back out. You can watch some youtube videos on how to do it as well.

That's a great idea. However mine are creased :( I think I will try the dan and paint method and leave the dents as is. I just don't want any rust!

The 2900 has a metal hood, my 2450 is plastic.

I am with you on cover the metal and stop the rust.
Somewhere down the road you can take things apart or do the shrinking metal thing and get it to look pretty.

If you get touch up paint but in a small rattle can you can spray it in a cup or the cover and use a que tip to apply the paint.

You could easily buy a little Bondo at Auto Zone and fix any small dent or crease like that and then prime and paint ...good as new...Bondo is not that hard to work with...I am sure no body man but I have used it and it came out as good as new.

Touch it up and move on. It's just a beauty mark. A few bangs and scatches are unavoidable with a well loved tractor.
